By my accounting, CRT is an idea that has gone unchallenged in academia for socio-political reasons. When they say that the U.S is a racist country and that systemic racism is built into the very fabric of Western society, that is an assertion that has NOT been challenged in any academic way. It is simply an assertion that people are afraid to challenge for fear of what will happen to them personally if they do. It represents the very worst kind of academics: where you WILL agree to what we say out of fear...and not because the idea is logical, provable, and reasonable.
The 1619 Project is basically the same thing: it was a thought exercise that has now been embraced as the "true" history of the U.S, because the people who should have challenged it and tested its validity were terrified of doing so. This is not academics; this is ideological bullying and we should all be ashamed for allowing it.
