The Germans loved him because he had charisma. He put food on the table. He ended crime with castrations because bad genetics obviously was the source of the problem. Also, at the end of WW1, they were marching the children in front of the allied occupation troops. My grandfather said he knew then there would be another war with Germany, which went against the prevailing thought patterns that it was the end of all warfare, because of flying machines, tanks, submarines, gas warfare; maybe germ warfare?
