The only problem with equating mice with humans is that humans are not mice. We have many of the same tendencies and many people may act exactly like mice; however, humans have a soul. That doesn’t guarantee that we will act in light of our eternal nature (MOST people don’t.).
God had a plan for the human race before He created us and He even has a plan for each individual. He foreknew our beginnings and our ends. He seldom interferes with the laws of nature that He established, but that doesn’t mean He can’t or won’t or hasn’t.
In nature mutations (like those seen in the different types of mice) inevitably are for the worse (contrary to Darwin’s theory). They don’t leave the mutated individuals in the species with new capabilities, they leave them with less. Yet God has enabled man to become more and more efficient and to learn and adapt to hardships as they increase. People were given (by our creator) abilities similar to the immune system He gave us. What doesn’t kill all us will make the surviving individual and the surviving community immune to that specific type of attack and many similar ones.

I am not sure, but the brevity of your response implies that you think that what happens with other organisms is irrelevant to humanity. Nothing could be further from the truth.
This is an example, with another species, of what the Academy of Ideas is talking about when they warn about the almost here societal mass psychosis -- the idea that if enough things are going wrong and nothing is done, everything falls apart.
