Everyone's own life, own situation can be more than they can handle.
Add the disappointments, disillusionments, many are running on empty.

I find that his political leanings are mostly what's wrong with him. I'm not sure of what drug glorification songs you're referring to. The Needle And The Damage Done is one of the most powerful anti-drug songs there is and one of his finer works

I love his music too. But even ignoring his bullshit with Rogan, Neil Young has worked for years to damage the Canadian oil industry.
Here’s a man worth $200-million dollars, flying to Northern Alberta on a private jet, in a campaign to put honest, hardworking people out of their jobs. And he’s succeeding. It makes me sick.
Wealthy, green celebrities never seem to go after the lucrative fossil fuel sectors in Russia, the Middle East or Nigeria.

Before anyone gets carried away with his current bullshit, lets not forget his musical contributions. He managed to drag flannelette shirts into the grunge scene, and some of the Crazy Horse stuff is, well, crazy! Regardless of his spitting the dummy with spotify, lets remember him at his best.

Just the same. All his stuff that I once thought was the greatest, I suddenly find abhorrent!
There's a chance that old man Young thought that this was going to start a trend people would get behind and he would become the hero, even for just a few minutes, and he'd be relavent again.... instead he's become the latest example of 'when keeping it real goes wrong'. I think the old man is missing the attention he once had and took a shot at getting some back.
