As to prions, can't see link to article.
Prions are kinda cool, actually, in a gruesome sorta way. Smaller than virii. Some even doubt they have enough material to be called alive. And, practically unkillable -- possibly because of reason already stated. Even if you cook prion infected meat the prions are still there to kill you if you partake. In one sense even worse than any radioactive material, since prions don't seem to decay.
If BEMonsters wanted to sterilize earth before invading, prions would be the way to do it.
