US thieves 300b from Russia so Russia will only sell their LNG (liquid natural gas) for rubles and reversed the flow of the LNG from a major transit pipeline to Europe. if I understand correctly its just until the rubles for LNG deals are set up which shouldn't take too long. That means the ruble will soon be commodities backed. Now all those EU countries that buy LNG will have to exchange their $$$ for rubles and if Putin gets real nasty he can take that already expensive LNG (about 10x the price of oil I think or there abouts) and double or triple the price.
The US has 30 LNG tankers that are headed to Europe and because obiden is such an upstanding guy, he diverted 10 of those tankers from Asia because European and British benchmark wholesale LNG prices soared to record highs yesterday so Asia gets the short end of the stick.
EU natural gas futures spiked to €130 per megawatt-hour, the highest since March 11th, after Moscow announced it will shift to natural gas sales in roubles. Russia’s President Putin justified the move as a response to Western nations freezing Russian assets abroad but added it would continue to meet client orders. In September 2021, roughly 58% of Gazprom’s overseas gas sales were in euros and another 39% in dollars. The prices were already rising after it was reported that Norway’s giant Troll natural gas field suffered an unplanned outage, which could last for an undetermined time. Traders now await updates on Western sanctions against Moscow, with the energy sector in focus, as NATO leaders are expected to meet.
With European gas storage remaining significantly below recent years, the underlying picture continues to be driven by fears over where the gas will come from if demand for gas in Q1 22 is very high and its the peak of winter.
