You don't stop crazy people from appearing in a civilized society. If you try by punishing law abiding citizens - by taking away their rights, you no longer have civilized society. You have tyranny.
Those who think crazy people can be eliminated from civilized society are among the crazy people.
And if those nutjobs think tyranny is actually the answer, they are again wrong. Crazy people randomly kill people in tyrannical regimes as well, but the control of the press prevents that from being well known - especially because some of the crazy people in a tyranny are in charge.
Those who feel socialism is harmless will find that out first.

Many in the medical field feel that a "brain pill" will fix the problem. The common denominator in most of these shooters had a history of being prescribed Ritalin. At one time doctors were passing it out like candy. I'm not saying the medication didn't help some, but who is to say what are the long term side affects. Not all people react to medication in the same way.The brain is complex and I don't see them figuring it out anytime in the near future.People with mental problems (including a few in our government holding high positions) should be separated from the general public as they were in the past. Just my opinion.

Around 1970, a rising sensationalist handlebar mustachioed reporter convinced the public that institutions that housed mentally disturbed and dysfunctional people were generally unjust, based on a few failures of oversight. The soccer mom's of America were outraged and the eventual result was the release of most of those folks being cared for in such places into the public - most of whom we now see as homeless people. Better, right? Nope. Another example of an imperfect system doing what was possible for the unfortunate people in our society, being destroyed by public ignorance, fueled by the media. How many of them become killers? Some do.
The last I heard, that reporter was proud of his work, and felt he had done a public service. If true, a perfect example of possibly good intentions going horribly wrong, and probably that people can convince themselves of almost anything - including criminal incitement as a public service.
If true, this bolsters the suspicion that this young man was groomed to be a shooter.
