Actually in the case of AI, if the Sci-Fi is accurate, the "smart people" will be the first to go. What does a super intelligent sentient being need humans for, especially pesky bureaucrats, scientists and politicians that think they know best?

The fact that Harari is accurate tells you what is wrong with technocracy or the bureaucratic corpocracy. His attitude is not exactly something new to the forces he describes. There has been people saying the same thing throughout history. It is painfully unimaginative, crude and reminds me of Adolf Hitler.

Technology has already had a history of making whole groups of poor people unnecessary. Ask the natives what happened when more technologically advanced Europeans moved into their neighborhoods. Does the saying "the only good Indian is a dead Indian" ring a bell. It is in some ways the same argument the Nazis made about the Serbs and other annoying races.

Yuval Noah Harari is gay and a vegan. He was raised as a gifted child. Is married to another gay man. My assessment is he belongs to the useless class of intellectuals that are unoriginal and boorish. High intelligence does not equal genius. I made the same observations 50 years ago at the age of 18. Since then I have matured a bit but I suspect he is stuck in adolescence due to a isolated childhood. He has made a living pointing out the obvious to people that are equally immature (IE most of the population stuck in the adolescent culture that came to dominate society in the 60s).

Let's start with him and his WEF compatriots, then most if not all of the so called "leadership" of the West.

The problem as I see it is that Harari is correct as long as the people of the planet allow the tech revolution to continue in the dehumanizing direction it has been progressing for the last 30-40 years. We've been told of the wonderful gifts that tech has given us: personal computers, cell phones, fabulous video games, virtual reality...the list goes on. Most people cannot imagine living without these things. But every person who was alive 40-50 years ago lived very well without any of them. The average person's share of the true wealth and value of tech is like scraps thrown to the dog under the dinner table. We have never been truly invited to dinner and never will be. As long as we're satisfied to be house pets to the Technocracy Harari is correct. I fear there are not enough armed average citizens of the world to make any appreciable change. Too many of the young are satisfied to be armed with a mobile phone.

We don't need him or the people in the WEF. What they need is an uninhabited island and no rescue, so they can torment and cannibalize their misanthropic pals for the rest of their sorry-assed half-lives.
