How the Communists slowly became Fascists is the great historical event of the last three decades. It happened right in front of our eyes but it seemed so absurd we couldn't process it. It happened in China first then Russia followed by the EU and now in the most absurd form in the US.
Anyone who read the neo con platform during the Bush administration would if not for cognitive dissonance recognized the Fascistic nature it was cast in. Although the Nazis were not strictly speaking Fascists they borrowed from Mussolini. Nazism was more a state religion with Germanic roots than a political system. Fascism in it's birth place of Italy had that same kind of ancestor worship but was more clearly a political system. The difference comes down to the personality of the two leaders. In the US wokeness lends the religious over tone but it was incorporated into what had already became a one party system of neo liberals and neo conservatives. Nationalism would at first glance set the current incarnation of Fascism apart from it's predecessors because of it's links to the world economic forum and globalism but Nazism was oddly international as well. Certainly it was embraced to some extent by powerful people such as the Bushs in the US and members of the Royal Family in England. Just as China seems to be embraced by powerful people today despite it's grotesque violations of human rights. Still Nationalism is much less prominent in the current manifestation of Fascism.
Biden in his speech certainly invoked one party nationalism. The US however is simply too diverse for nationalism to be tied to racism as in Germany in the 1930s. Still racism of a strange sort is part of his platform. Working class white males are the new Jews. Imported non citizens of a variety of races play the role of Slavic slaves. It all seems oddly too familiar.
This winter the EU will demostratively prove to be a failed state, Canada and Australia can't be far behind. Russia and the US only avoid failure because of natural resources, China because of human resources. Fascism is an apparent formula for failure and communism a receeding memory. Whatever emerges from the current chaos I have no prediction of. It feels as surreal as a nightmare.
