Feel free to reply to any comment by clicking the "Reply" button.Raising insects on a commercial scale would require years of experience and like anything in agriculture there will be years when disease or pests destroy your crop. Then there is the cost of providing food to the insects. Yes it's true not only are there no perpetual motion machine but there are no animals including insects that don't require food. The cost is in fact the final straw that breaks this idiotic idea. Right now a pound of crickets is selling for $39.00. Even if you could get the price down by 400 percent due to large scale efficiency most of that weight is chitin which is of little nutritional value.
They truly are morons. There are many more practical alternatives of feeding people with less environmental impact. Potatoes feed the Irish Catholics on tiny plots of land while the landowners used most of the available Irish land for cash grain exports.

There are also adverse health effects from chitin. In the majority of mammals, including humans, chitin has been linked to cancer and respiratory illness.
All the more reason to grow/raise your own food.
