Gender. Sex. Same thing. Gender is a euphemism for sex. Gender is the term substituted for sex and used in a polite and considerate society in order not to be embarrassing in conversation with mixed company. "Heh. Heh. Heh. He said sex! Heh. Heh. Heh." There are only two sexes and only two genders. Beyond that, there are anomalies. We understand the biological anomalies around sex. Science can outline them as genetic in origin. But the social "sciences" are unable to present a scientific explanation for mental anomalies and do nothing more than usual to explain them by creating labels and placing them on bell curves. Today's sociologists are just eliminating the bell curve. Essentially, that eliminates anomalies where everyone under gender is magically equal and we are not to probe for further understanding. Shut up!

The transgender community lost the argument before it started - just too many were willing to 1) ignore it as a fringe community and 2) within the 'non-conforming' communities, it was used to gain political power. Now it is eating it's own - as every movement that seeks political power using human behavior as it's foundation.

"gender" is a grammatical term used as a modifier - adjective. Sex is a noun when in reference to biological set of male vs female.
Pop culture loves and often uses terminologies incorrectly as equally interchangeable.

Well put. I like to think of it as sex as the physical reality precursor to the cultural abstract reality of gender.
A sexually reproducing species will almost always have considerable sexual dimorphism. While many of the physical differences between the sexes are easily observable the differences in instinctual predispositions require careful observation. Since instincts are by definition subconscious self awareness is insufficient to expose them and creates an environment in which most people choose to deny that they are not in control of them. How much of gender dysphporia is nature and how much is nurture is hard to determine. Self reporting is almost useless in making that determination. To understand the complexity of how sex becomes behavior a study of cryptic sexual conflict is useful. What we can be certain of is that humans have mechanisms to prevent runaway sexual dimorphism. But like all domesticated animals we also almost certainly have artificially altered genetics in that regard. Because civilized humans tend to control violent aggression most likely the tendency is towards the effeminate. Among other things that means a tendency towards constant low level aggression. Female are not less violent the violence just takes a different form. Including "hell has no fury like a woman scorned". The current progression of you must allow people to live as they please to you must accept all forms of perversions reflects that predisposition. It's a form of aggression that uses third party authority to inflict violence on those the woke consider a threat to their social status or those who must be keep in their social hierarchy place.
Gender was pretty straight forward until it turned into the 57 varieties. It was tied to biology and physical attributes. Now it's a subjective thing. They are just trying to flatten the curve - the Bell curve that is.
