The same agency is moving to make mental afflictions another category for which euth is the answer. This was one of the categories in Nazi Germany's Final Solution. Some were murdered just for being diagnosed as "anxious".

How anyone expects this not to occur in an form of socialized medicine is bewildering.

Collectivism always, always goes this way. Once the NPC's and sheep are "collected" their "betters" decide which (no "who" -- that was lost) can be a slave and which mulch.

Anyone out there remeber Dr Kevorkian??????????? He assisted in suicides and "was a monster" NOW IT IS THE IN THING TO DO, TO SAVE THE PLANET, TO SAVE THE ENVIROMENT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think one difference is that Kevorkian did not offer the choice in order to save some corrupt bureaucrat's health budget. Canada's sin is not the relief of pain but as alternative to keep their socialized medicine scam afloat a little longer.

None of us are getting out of this alive. But, there is some comfort in knowing that when time comes to die, and we all die alone, YOU can perhaps decide how and when.

When they hate you so much that they don't want you around to pay taxes, that's real hatred!

It's not like it's the first time in history that the rent seekers have decided that there are two many useless mouths to feed. One of the best examples is that Britian was exporting grain from Ireland during the potato famine.

According to economist Cormac O' Grada, more than 26 million bushels of grain were exported from Ireland to England in 1845, a "famine" year. Even greater exports are documented in the Spring 1997 issue of History Ireland by Christine Kinealy of the University of Liverpool. Her research shows that nearly 4,000 vessels carrying food left Ireland for ports in England during "Black '47" while 400,000 Irish men, women and children died of starvation.

Shipping records indicate that 9,992 Irish calves were exported to England during 1847, a 33 percent increase from the previous year. At the same time, more than 4,000 horses and ponies were exported. In fact, the export of all livestock from Ireland to England increased during the famine except for pigs. However, the export of ham and bacon did increase. Other exports from Ireland during the "famine" included peas, beans, onions, rabbits, salmon, oysters, herring, lard, honey and even potatoes.

The irony is that Trudeau is a perfect figurehead for the useless network climbers that come to power when the talented have withdrawn from public life. Among the less than useful to any other human being would be characters such as Klaus Schwab and George Soros. I would include Biden, Merkel, and Macron as well as a few examples of people that have never managed anything positively. Certainly the Nobility of France before the French Revolution is another example. Our instant billionaires are for the most part another example as they got rich through manipulation more than innovation.

Rent Seekers come to power not on merit but because they are amoral. It's much easier to gain power if you don't have to worry about pesky details like morality. When you have whole classes of people who feel they are too sophisticated for conventional morality societies unravel. In the West it started getting rolling faster when people lost faith in Western Civilization after WWI and WWII. The general population demanded and to some extent got reform. That reform however came with an administrative state. Unelected and unaccountable administrators have taken over society. All institutions are now burdened by droves of mid wit managers bright enough to pass the exams and particularly talented at networking but not bright enough to see complex relationships which leads to unintended consequences.

Both capitalism and communism are the invention of the narcissistic and nihilistic mind of Marx. A close look at his personal life illustrates what kind of person he was. He abused his family, friends and associates. Was lazy and irresponsible suffered from skin problems related to neurosis. An immoral atheist and racist. That he is remembered at all is proof that it's not sophistication or merit that people look for in philosophy but emotional justification for living the monkey life of consumption and amorality. Civilization requires a harsh and stable environment but people by instinct prefer the easy, unstable natural life where things are taken not produced. More meritocratic and sophisticated thinkers such as Adam Smith are hardly even known to the general population in part because he understood the role of morality, a topic hardly considered by our naturalist philosophers. While he may have placed undo confidence in "free markets" most scholars refuse to address the "moral", educational and economic corruption of the Irish Catholics under British rule. The Irish population having been reduced to less than serfs by their Protestant land lords had no opportunity to develop self reliance or social institutions capable of dealing with a crisis. The fact that Irish themselves were "unrulable" is an issue for another discussion.

The relationship between public morality and meritocracy is key to understanding the rise to power of the rent seekers. All Western nations are now some mix of corpocracy and technocracy. Bureaucrats have been writing the laws now for a long time. In the US it's called the Code of Federal Regulations. It's important to understand that bureaucracies are fertile ground for networking to replace merit in hierarchies. This is true not only in government but in corporations. When who you know and relationships becomes more important to advancement than merit civilization will start to unravel. Leadership should not be determined by networking but by demonstrable merit and meaningful productivity. If your hierarchies are corrupt your civilization is corrupt. The population is not innocent in the degeneration because they typically will accept bread and circus in lieu of a harsh meritocracy.

We live in a society with no basis for morality because the scientific revolution produced a naturalistic outlook. Science and technology replaced God. While it is easy to make fun of traditional religious values that are intertwined with sometimes absurd mythology there is a bit of pseudo sophistication that goes along with that. I would offer people such as Stephen Jay Gould who intentional perverted evolutionary theory to support the hopeless task of developing a new morality based on equality. It's not surprising that someone with a naturalistic perspective would turn to equality as the basis for morality as that is one of the "monkey instincts". Unfortunately monkeys are amoral. While there is in nature some degree of "wild justice" those instincts by and large work against the needs of civilization. The sexual revolution being an excellent example. What a complex civilization requires is a harsh moral code that creates an environment of trust and cooperation often at odds with instinct.

So here we are with a failing amoral civilization where freewill, agency and human dignity are consider quaint ideas from the past. For the most part the mid wits with IQs between 120 and 130 and declining general intelligence have taken over. People just smart enough to understand that traditional religion is at odds with science but without the imagination to see how a complex chaotic system such as a society must be a hierarchy of competency and strict morality. An abstract world where freewill, agency and human dignity play a crucial role. I offer Elon Musk as an example of someone that has enough imagination to at least see the status quo of the mid wits is unworkable.

Musk's grandfather was a prominent Technocrat, which explains a lot about Musk. [newsinteractives.cbc.ca]

That policy is problematic under the predatory incentives of capitalism, but Trudeau certainly didn't say that.

What capitalism? Where is this mystical beast that you are always referring to? Capitalism is as extinct as dragons.

@wolfhnd The monopoly capitalism we all live under that's grown from the enclosure of common land, the establishment of navies, industrialization, and financialization.

@WilyRickWiles

Oh I see, it's civilization that you really can't handle.

@wolfhnd Odd that you would make that accusation. Following your presumptuous logic, it would apply to you too, given that you deny that the current system is capitalism (which you support). No, for me it's the inequality of power rooted in theft.

@FocusOnCourseU Private property is theft.

@FocusOnCourseU And the rentier dynamics of monopoly capitalism are rooted in private property itself, which is incapable of being subjected to the "free market."

@FocusOnCourseU "own nothing and be happy" is the reality of capitalism. At least with communism I'll have power, agency, basic needs guaranteed, a social life, and humanity won't be at risk of crises like global warming.

As opposed to the USA, where you don't even get the assistance.

When there is only one place to get health care, we are subjected to a monopoly - lower quality - higher cost - no choice. Competition brings the opposite - just look what the U.S. did to doctors & health care during the last 3 years.

@JeffHoneyager @JacksonNought

Most people in first world nations think they have a system of healthcare when in fact they have a system of health insurance. The government in Canada collects the money to provide the insurance. In America private corporations provide insurance through employers through a payroll deduction or some form of private insurance. America has an increasing form of government insurance in medicare and medicaid.

If government collects the insurance payments so it determines what health care services it will provide and which it won't. The federal government in Canada has a huge bureaucracy to handle the insurance money it collects for healthcare services but it only distributes the money it collects to the provinces. The provinces each have their own giant bureaucracies that are paid through provincial and municipal taxes. The health insurance system does not build hospitals or provide the infrastructure for the delivery of services. It only pays for the actual healthcare services.

In any respect, health insurance drives up the cost of healthcare in several ways. It bloats the system. It increases demand. But government also is lobbied by pharmaceutical companies and agriculture to give them privilege. The sugar lobby wants to protect their interests even though sugar is one of the worst "foods" one could put in their body and creates an unhealthy populace. Big Pharma wants grants for research and promotes drugs that cause harmful effects that we should do without. These prevent real solutions or understanding to health problems from being found or even sought. Managing disease instead of curing anything becomes the objective.

Now we are faced with the desecration of the Hippocratic oath of "do no harm" where euthanasia is offered as a solution or abortion beyond the saving of a life is a matter of convenience.

Should healthcare be a profitable business or a charitable industry run more like a religious order?

@FrankZeleniuk

"The sugar lobby wants to protect their interests..."

Even worse, because of US farm subsidies with corn, everything is packed with "high fructose corn syrup" which is even worse than regular sugar.

@FrankZeleniuk Agree! I have no insurance and pay for my physician on a monthly basis ($95/mo). Unlimited visits, the procedures done at their office are included, prescriptions at cost. During each visit I spend at least one hour with my actual doctor. That is health care.

If Trudope feels so strongly about it, he should go first.
