Framing of article is clearly from an irresponsible leftist perspective, but also points to the need for McCarthy to read and apply, “The Art of the Deal”. There should be no negotiating to begin with, only a demand for what is reasonable (ie. Stop spending thing money we don’t have coming in and start paying down the debt immediately).

I agree. I also don’t think he will be up to the task. He doesn’t strike me as a person with a strong character nor capable of coming up with solutions to longstanding problems. He seems more interested in playing politics than in actually solving problems. He wants to get concessions from the left; he should be staying emphatically that business as usual has gotten the country into this financial mess and things much change. We will no longer write checks for throngs that aren’t absolutely necessary until the debt comes down and we will begin reducing the debt ceiling until the debt ceiling is near zero. We are paying more each year in interest than our entire debt should be. There is no reason we shouldn’t be operating in the black like responsible American citizens do. We are their representatives, not just the representatives of those who live beyond their means on a regular basis.
If he would do that and stick to it, I would see him as more than just a worthless politician. As it stands, I don’t.
