2307100100M FLASHBACK:

I was looking for an audio-book of one of the mysteries written by Mr. Buckley – I know he wrote at least one. At-any-rate, in so looking I came across this old episode of “Firing Line” which was hosted by him. Watching him and Bishop Sheen discuss a whole range of things it occurred to me that America is going about everything all wrong.

But to set something straight first, capitalism IS NOT synonymous with monopolies – and why do people have that idea? Monopolies can only occur with government intervention into the free market of capitalism – otherwise they’re impossible. And yes, once upon a time government helped a few robber barons gain monopolies – that is true. Then laws against monopolies had to be passed preventing them because politician are so corrupt. Nothing to do with the viability of capitalism though.

Now the purpose of this post, American capitalism is what won the cold war so why are we forsaking it now. Instead of throwing away tax payer’s money over seas spend it right here at home building on our economy. It’s insane to make the Military Industrial Complex filthy rich when it’s not necessary. And just look at all the homeless living on the streets. And for Pete’s sake build that damn wall.

PS1. Capitalism is the best weapon America could possibly have and we’re retiring it in favor of homeless citizens and feeding the money pit known as the Military Industrial Complex.

PS2. Even Bishop Sheen mistakenly associated monopolies with capitalism once in this interview?
