Right now there is no problem, until somthing goes wrong. No ones is going to warn you ahead of time, wars usually don't happen that way. Then the shortage will have to be addressed. A draft of the unwilling will be to only option. How this will get played? As usuall, with lots of bulllshit narritives.

People try to find a light at the end of the tunnel.

I was watching the commentary on the first Republican presidential debate and it was suggested that we didn't have to worry about China and the commentator suggested that the focus on China was misplaced.  He pointed out the Chinese economy is nearing the state of a depression.  That may be true but the great depression didn't stop Hitler.  It was part of his reason for going to war before Germany was ready.  What could be done with his heavy handed control of the economy was about to be shown to have weaknesses.  He had to act before the people started to reject his revolution.  An injured animal is a dangerous animal.  China is an injured but still strong animal.

The administrative states of Western Europe responded to Hitler the same way they are to China.  Like Poland, they have made Taiwan the red line.  They have similarly done little to back up their threats but offer concessions.  They are totally unprepared for any aggression, their military superiority as real as that of France's before Hitler invaded but the generals are totally incompetent.

Throughout the West weakness and incompetence rules the day.  The West is a financial empire built on the delusion that money is real.  That character is a delusion of a morality that only the peasants would believe in.  Like the Nazis China has a strict moral code.  That code is that the party is god, Its leader is a new kind of emperor with the mandate of heaven.  The people of China believe in it because they are racists and indoctrinated.  

For thirty years I have heard people say China is a paper tiger.  China however is a civilization older than the West's.  Just as the tribal civilization of Germany was older than the civilization of the Roman empire.  It has embraced industrialization but hangs on to its sense of uniqueness.  Like a wild animal the Chinese civilization wants to break out of its chains.  It is deeply bitter about being a second class power just like Germany was.  Now that communism has passed into fascism it is posed to strike out.  

Russia is different.  It's Slavic identity weaker than Chinese racism.  Russia is racial mixed and disorganized.  Its Eastern heritage sets it apart from Western Europe but a confusing not unifying force.  It only becomes unified when it is threatened.  What people in the West seem unable to understand is that the financial empire of the West was a real threat to Russia's weak sense of identity.  The EU and by extension a real threat to that identity.  The EU being an empire by other means primarily a financial empire.  A kind of Napoleonic force backed by finance, not the French army.   We have been poking the bear now for decades and it has gotten angry.  

One of the consequences of breaking up of the Soviet Union was similar to what Western Europe did after WWI in the Middle East.  National boundaries were drawn on the basis of financial interests not cultural reality.   The creation of Ukraine cut Russia off from its historical warm water ports in the Crimea.  What is happening there now amounts to little more than the second Crimean war.   Western Europe has always hated two great powers that it couldn't control.  Russia and the US.  The US for the most part has surrendered its independence to the financial institutions of Europe.   All the bad ideas that are in vogue in the US came from Western Europe.  Socialism, postmodernism, globalism, etc.  The US has been culturally captured by Western Europe.  Russia is the last hold out.

US elites have always turned to Europe for sophistication.  They are embarrassed by the homegrown common sense attitude of the American people.  What they never seem to understand is the will to dominate that is the central feature of European culture.  Perhaps it is inherited from Rome and is hidden behind centuries of political disunity but whatever its source it is real.  It remains real and has taken on its current form as the EU.  In contrast the US population has always been isolationist at heart.  Wishing to remain unintangled in the affairs of Europe.  What the US elites don't realize is they will never be equals.  You can see it in how Obama was snubbed when he visited Europe. Like Trudeau in Canada he was more or less installed by European elites.  They saw him as their pawn.  Russia, having a long history of being abused by Western Europe, wanted no part of the "new world order".   They installed a ruthless strongman to prevent it from happening.
Common sense, the backbone of the native philosophy of the US, tells us that little of what is happening could have been prevented.  The Chinese civilization could not have been restrained forever.  Russia was never going to join the EU.  The US was destined to become like Western Europe as its elites worship European sophistication.  What didn't have to happen was corpocracy, what Eisenhower warned of in his "military industrial complex" speech.  The US did not have to become a dystopian administrative state tied to an irresponsible financial class.  The middle class could have survived.  Morality could have been salvaged.
