They are just trying to keep the majority of there users content with the drug they are providing.

no one is forced to use any social media platforms. It wasn't very many years ago social platforms didn't exist and nobody suffered for it. We could easily stop using social media and no one would be worse off for that. If you want them "out of your life" - well, guess who's got the power to do that eh? Hint - look in a mirror.
