This coupled with the violent nature of socialism can only lead to these type of outcomes. The selfish self centered person that thinks they are entitled to whatever they want because no one has ever told them no, the spoiled brat that got there way by throwing a fit, need to be told that this is unacceptable behavior. The permissive parent figure that is Portland’s mayor need to quit trying to be their friend and discipline his kids, Weird is OK but Violent is not.

If I were in proximity and had the firearms I certainly would have killed in this situation as it it would be a proportional response to an attack by a masked mob when police have no control. Having the will to do this is the easiest thing to possess. The emotional after effects would be negligible. I've twice stared into the barrel of a gun pointed at me and survived and was never shaken. There are far worse things that death. Things like tyranny and mob authoritarianism. I wouldn't even have a moment of angst over FBI snipers following these antifa members and eliminating them.
I'm not speaking in hyperbole here. The leftists have already declared war and they're fighting it mob style and with guerilla tactics. They are most definitely the "domestic enemy" identified in all public oaths. They have forfeited due process or consideration under the Geneva Convention of warfare.
I say kill them. It IS justified at this point

I'm just curious, would you say the same about the neo-nazis? Or maybe the politics isn't the thing--maybe just mob violence is the thing. But, there's that slippery slope. Just the environment of opposition itself is combustible. Can good people cross a line and then walk it back before deserving death? I'm just kind of following this out. Where is the line? What is a death-worthy offense?
@KeVince, I guess the advantage we have over modern day neo-nazis is they're sort of contained--marginalized out on the extreme edges. Antifa isn't yet contained or pushed out on the extremes because of the tacit acceptance of the left for their behavior. Antifa is a bigger threat today than the neo-nazis--at least here in the US. There was a time when neo-nazis were extremely dangerous. Imagine if half of the country had been wishy-washy about them. The US (institutionally or simply among the citizenry) didn't really give the neo-nazis room to exist in a violent form--or stopped giving them that space. We have to do the same things to antifa, but even on this site there are several people who think they're good people doing a good thing. Our members who endorse antifa ARE antifa, though they pretend they aren't. They're people who would be antifa if they themselves had the guts to cross social norms of elitism and the social perception of maturity.
The point isn't really about a group, but about what we do about the group. What will we allow? We no longer allow acting out from extreme groups on the right. However, we are allowing aberrant behavior from groups on the left--back to Jordan Peterson's question, 'when has the left gone too far?'
