Where do such extreme (and idiotic if I may say so) views come from? I believe that in the US, people are still allowed to go out during the lockdown, to do exercises, grocery shopping, etc., aren't they? You're also allowed to go to work if you're a key worker and can't work from home, aren't you? People in quarantine can still have grocery delivered to their doors and businesses can still be operated via the Internet using communication tools and apps. We have similar conditions in the UK. It's not like we've been put under house arrest or all businesses have been shut down forever. The UK government is providing financial support for employers who can't run businesses as usual and their employees. I assume that the the US government is also taking similar measures. Moreover, the UK government is shifting the lockdown very gradually and very cautiously. So, people are NOT going to die of starvation and the economy is NOT going to be destroyed completely. I dislike fear mongering. Many people also do this in the UK. I hate it, I really do.

Yes, the shutdown amounts to mostly social pressure for individuals and regulation for public spaces and businesses. It's the latter that really upsets the a certain type of business owner and leads to exaggeration.
@WilyRickWiles It was a different situation but as you know it took the UK 3.5 years before the Brexit was finally confirmed. During this period most businesses formulated contingency plans and measures to prepare themselves for the worst outcomes including losing their migrant employees, supply sources, etc.There was a lot of scare mongering like there would be massive food shortages, medicine shortages, etc., but as a consumer, I didn't see any difference. I think that manufacturers, distributors, retailers coped with the situation very well so that their customers weren't affected too much. I think they know how to survive all sorts of circumstances. Mind you, they said that "hanging in limbo" for a long time was more damaging to their businesses than anything else, which is similar to the lockdown we're having now, I guess.
Wonder how much the deviant lobby plays into this??????????????

I guess you want to stay on lock down until.....? A cure? I mean what do you think is going to happen? Let's stay in for another 2-3 months, will the virus be gone? No. Will the economy be completely destoryed along with millions of lives? Yes.

I think through the end of May is reasonable and hopefully should be enough time to ramp up testing to where it needs to be, start contact tracing, and start serology tests. As far as the economy, the people funding these protests are the same people preventing government from doing what it needs to do to freeze the economy.
