World of Warcraft, for example, made the appearance of the Forsaken (a race of sentient zombies, for lack of a better descriptor) different in the Chinese edition due to cultural issues with visible bones.
Rolex and many other high cachet luxury brands have been running massive worldwide shortages for several years now due to China's burgeoning middle class hungry for status symbols.
The Disney sequel trilogy to Star Wars was rumored to have co-leads in Daisy Ridley and John Boyega, until John's character Finn was quietly pushed to the background, due to China's social opinions about black people. In a similar vein, Disney also shot their live-action Mulan in the same region as concentration camps for Uygher Muslims, with nary a complaint and a deep heartfelt thanks to China for letting Disney film there.
Speaking of which, good luck finding any discussion of the Uygher's plight in mainstream media, because it's not politically expedient to their Democratic Party masters to talk about actual concentration camps in 2020(err 2021). Instead, they talk about how white people living in 2020-21 need to be put in re-education camps to teach them how not to be white supremacists. Just a wee bit of disconnect there, don't you think?
In short, China is - to many - an untapped market the size of which the world has never known and has become the consumer straw that stirs the drink. If you've ever wondered why the Democrats stopped being the party of impoverished white factory workers, it's because papa's got a brand new bag on the other side of the Pacific, where all your jobs went.
