@samtilley That only happens in video games. In real life, unless you are at point blank range and in ambush you don't aim at anything other than the biggest target, the body. If you are shooting in the middle of combat from further away and you are under pressure, you will shoot at anything you can hit , unless you are extremely well trained and experience, hitting the head shot is unlikely. But you might hit the larger target. And just how not easy is to hit a head, just look at MMA or Boxing. Two guys standing a meter away from each other, using their hands and feet and still go head hunting and miss most of the time. The head-shot stories happen in video games, real life is far more predictably unpredictable., So you protect the biggest target of yourself for that reason. Usually people also wear a hamlet, but not always. Depends on the nature of conflict.

@Krunoslav I was a competitive shooter for years. A head shoot is absolutely no problem. Putting a round in center mass is for the untrained and inexperienced. I am not talking about combat. I can put rounds on a 6" target at 600 yards

@samtilley For a train competitive shooter, that may be true. Most people as it happened are not train competitive shooters. But, even for a train competitive shooter as yourself, combat situation is very different. Also you are dealing with someone shooting back with real bullets, trying not to get hit, you may be outnumbered, or outgunned, or in situations where there is no clear shot, or its too risk to aim for more than a second or two etc. Also you may not be having a precise enough weapon. So, if you are talking about sports competition or shooting for fun against targets, yeah, a well trained experienced shooter can do it. But that is very different than real combat situation. We must make that distinction.

Similar to how people who train karate, Kung Fu etc or even boxing find themselves in a street fight. It can go in many directions and often the training they had in controlled environment can be either not enough or can harm them because they practice a particular skill to the point of perfection that applied in a street fight can be all the wrong moves. You see this quiet a bit in various street fight videos.
