I'm really hoping that this is effective! Working in law enforcement embedded in a mental health program, I've seen tremendous change and heard many say this is the best their life has ever been. But the problem has typically been that many who suffer from major mental health disorders don't want treatment, don't want meds, and can't be forced to participate--until they are compelled by the courts in a legal action as a result of a law violation. We'll see.

@ObiRonMoldy In my line of work I have dealt with the homeless. There are some that really need help, we use to put those into facilities and take care of them. Now we leave them on the street to scream at the sky. That is maybe 10%, the others are mostly lazy and want someone else to take care of their needs. That does not mean that they don't have problems, it means they use their problems as an excuse.
@ObiRonMoldy Maybe they would be more likely to seek help if we did not provide everything they need to continue their current life style.
@ObiRonMoldy I watch them daily. They do not stay in the encampments all day. They have a systematic daily route they use to get around to all the locations that give them their daily needs. And trust me, the new homeless in town learn quickly through their "brethern" where to go.
Listen to the song "King of the Road", this is nothing new, it has been going on for at least 100 years.

My father was one of the homeless during the Depression ,rode the rails and all of those things. At a young age I was taught to be self sufficient.
@ObiRonMoldy Last I heard, there are more jobs today than there are people willing to work.

My grandfather pulled my Dad out of school at age 12 and put him to work as a logger. After two years of working for room and board, Dad hopped a west bound freight train (age 14). He figured that he should earn some money if he was going to work that hard. By the way that was the year 1919.
So your assumption that Dad had "protective factors" in his life is not correct. There is a lot more to Dad's story.
That gives you and idea of how I was raised, and the type of man I learned from. And yes, I was falling timber at age 14, because I wanted to help my Dad, not forced as he was.
@ObiRonMoldy The opportunities are the same now as then. The difference is the WELFARE state and the expectations of the homeless. I live in town/city of about 50,000. There are at least 10 locations in this town where the homeless can receive services on a daily bases. They have no reason to take a job for room and board, why work for what is free????
