I have a daughter that is preschool -8th grade she got her teaching degree so she could oversee home school kids for parents that don't meet the state requirements for teaching their own kids. Public schools in larger towns are becoming the last resort for parents that want their kids to acutely know something useful when they leave school.

Just a point of interest here; my sister is a teacher. She is certified to teach K through 12 and she also has worked with students with "special needs".
After some years teaching in a public school in a "wealthy" school district she became disgusted with it all. Without going into any detail about the things that drove her to quit I will just say it was a matter of her own mental, emotional self preservation. Interestingly my sister found a teaching job in China. She teaches via telecommunication and she is very well paid for her work. She is teaching a young age group - I believe her kids are about 8 or 9 years old...not sure. But all her students speak English and I will say that they all LOVE being in my sisters class. Parents of the Chinese students request my sister for their kids.
They are respectful, studious and sweet my sister tells me.
