@tracycoyle this has gotten way off track, and probably deliberately by the Progs on here... it is supposed to be about Biden and the sham of the IPCC using climate change for global wealth redistribution. However there is a very good site called the Political Compass... https://www.politicalcompass.org/test The axes can be considered Progressive-Conservative and Right-Left hence the similarity to your thoughts according to MW. As for MW perhaps he could then explain why I always end up on Ghandi if I am far right as he often infers lately. My politics have hardly varied over the last 40 years... and I have never shown up as any kind of extremist. Now perhaps we could get back on topic.

@tracycoyle no offense taken... actually it is not limited it is broad. Here is yet another... Conservatism is a political and social philosophy promoting traditional social institutions in the context of culture and civilization. The central tenets of conservatism include tradition, hierarchy, and authority, as established in respective cultures, as well as property rights. That one is more specifically political/social conservatism.

The Greens 1 heading far Left the ALP and the only Conservative or centre right party the Liberal Party taken over by Progressives for years until finally the rest of them grew a backbone and turfed the PM and his followers out... even now some still remain waiting for another chance. I'm not going to repost everything I and others have written on this for the last 40 years. I cited 2 experts that people could look up even. The so called deniers mainly agree there has been some warming. I even mentioned the PAUSE. Just because people have questions and skepticism about the primary cause of warming and the end result of it doesn't make them deniers... just not alarmists. BTW do you understand that the Sun is the primary driver of warming on our planet? I could go into that too but that argument goes on for years.

Lightman replies on Dec 17, 2020:
@TheMiddleWay Many scientists admit that climate is a very very complicated issue and that more needs to be known. Where have you been? Under a rock. Caught in the Democrat bubble perhaps? Just 1 of many dissenting reports and opinions.. Whether most scientists outside climatology believe that global warming is happening is less relevant than whether the climatologists do. A letter signed by over 50 leading members of the American Meteorological Society warned about the policies promoted by environmental pressure groups. “The policy initiatives derive from highly uncertain scientific theories. They are based on the unsupported assumption that catastrophic global warming follows from the burning of fossil fuel and requires immediate action. We do not agree.” Those who have signed the letter represent the overwhelming majority of climate change scientists in the United States, of whom there are about 60. McMichael and Haines quote the 1995 report of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), which is widely believed to “prove” that climate change induced by humans has occurred. The original draft document did not say this. What happened was that the policymakers’ summary (which became the “take home message” for politicians) altered the conclusions of the scientists. This led Dr Frederick Seitz, former head of the United States National Academy of Sciences, to write, “In more than sixty years as a member of the American scientific community ... I have never witnessed a more disturbing corruption of the peer-review process than the events that led to this IPCC report.” Policymaking should be guided by proved fact, not speculation. Most members of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change believe that current climate models do not accurately portray the atmosphere-ocean system. Measurements made by means of satellites show no global warming but a cooling of 0.13°C between 1979 and 1994.5 Furthermore, since the theory of global warming assumes maximum warming at the poles, why have average temperatures in the Arctic dropped by 0.88°C over the past 50 years? Try reading some Bob Carter or Ian Plimer, just for starters. The list is as expected censored on the Net and you have to actually look for them these days (shades of the 2020 election) but for decades many scientists from all disciplines disagree with the alarmists and those sponging of governments.

LOL Brainwashed and wrong The climate has always changed :-) As for the quotes they are pertinent to the actual topic you post your opinion and misquotes. For example not all climate scientists say man has a major impact on climate change. A 1996 publication “The Holocene”, by T.P. Barnett, B.D. Santer, P.D. Jones, R.S. Bradley and K.R. Briffa, says this: “Estimates of…natural variability are critical to the problem of detecting an anthropogenic [human] signal…We have estimated the spectrum…from paleo-temperature proxies and compared it with…general [climate] circulation models…none of the three estimates of the natural variability spectrum agree with each other…Until…resolved, it will be hard to say, with confidence, that an anthropogenic climate signal has or has not been detected.” In other words, these guys, several of whom you will hear from later, can’t say with confidence whether or not humans have had any influence at all…or even if so, whether it has caused warming or cooling!

His lies or fabrications only serve to damage his credibility and confuse issues. Do I like his Twitter habit.... not one little bit. Is he the worlds biggest liar... nope... most politicians lie... Biden lies, Harris lies, AOC lies, etc, etc, etc.... the whole Democrat collusion gambit was a lie etc, etc, etc... probably the biggest lie in the last 4 years actually. Is that what you were talking about... Was it about polling on the 2 most left leaning dishonest websites? Twitter and Facebook lie by omission and censorship if not by posting fake news... all forms of lying. So I have already answered in a less fulsome way those questions before. surely you could have worked that out from what I wrote.

@Cecil_J_Twillie Personally I think religions have had a major impact on the laws we live by... and at various times these have been altered, eroded and changed for various reasons, some good some bad. Organised Religions are a man made thing though, so they will never be perfect and at times they will be very wrong. I don't agree with those espousing that they are the major foundation of Western Civilisation. They have had a major impact, but it is obvious they do not affect our lives as much as they used to. Secularism as pointed out is a major reason for that... most of the West is not made up of theocracies.

Politics and science are not the same thing... neither ar4e socialism and capitalism or Progressivism and Conservatism... anyone thinking that Conservatism is anti-progress though is an idiot. CONSERVATISM is: a political philosophy advocating the preservation of the best of the established order in society and opposing radical change, or simply change for its own sake. It doesn't oppose all change and it certainly doesn't oppose actual progress. As for Capitalists... why would any stop a good idea especially when a good idea has a "buck" in it?
