I see other articles have reported violent riots have broken out over this... I also saw some of the "offending" images. I agree the ad was insensitive and they should have done it differently. A better way would have been to use the same model for both before and after shots. They could even do the same thing with multiple, racially diverse models if they felt that would be more inclusive.
What is the most appropriate way to broach this issue? Do people really have to go straight from "insensitive ad" to "violent revolution" in one fell swoop? Don't people write complaint letters / emails anymore or collect signatures and petition companies to withdraw offensive ads? How about a boycott of a company that refuses to change?
People can be too quick to escalate conflict these days instead of trying to resolve things peacefully, and I worry about where it will lead!

British public relations firm was found guilty of running a PR campaign in South Africa to Stoke racial tension within South Africa recently too. The racial stoking propaganda campaigns are deliberate.
I believe UN-ilever knew what they were doing. And the EFF who are now protesting about it are just paid pawns. They are communist mouth pieces.
@JennaGardner Yes, I have some limited awareness of historical anti-black racism in South Africa, and as much as the powers that be have tried to cover it up, some news has reached us of the current plight of white people in South Africa - especially farmers.
I fear that what is happening in South Africa might be a timely warning to the rest of the world of what could happen (perhaps is happening) in other countries if the Marxist organization that is the Black Lives Matter Global Network gets their way.
