The Supreme Court has considered flag burning legal under the first amendment, but I think that is a bad decision personally. I think it should be held as an exception, but I don't see it changing.
You take your orders of patriotism from a poem written by a socialist? I'm surprised.
@WilyRickWiles Well, I'm not American so I personally don't have any association to a pledge of allegiance to your flag. That said, a pledge is a very solemn thing. If someone pledges their allegiance, they are duty-bound to fulfil their pledge.
I don't know or care about the politics of the author. There is nothing in the pledge itself that I see as objectionable... except maybe the "indivisible" part. It's a nice sentiment, but looking at the country today I have to seriously wonder how feasible it is... Maybe it's time to revise the pledge again so that a future generation that hasn't sworn to uphold the indivisibility of the republic can do what may need to be done without a breach of oath. Hopefully there is still enough time to do that before the disunited republic implodes!

Biden the campaigner is even more of an obstinate neoliberal than I expected, so I do have concerns about his strategy. Add to that a lot of chaos in the world. But the fundamentals are good. And at the end of the day, the loss of my preferred primary candidate is a blessing because I can focus on more important things than the presidential election. Good luck.

If a white does anything against a gay or black, it’s considered hate, even if it is an inanimate object like a flag or even a noose that is not a noose. In the case of a 5 year old white boy thrown off of a 3 story balcony or shot point blank in the face, it’s considered justice if the perp is merely arrested. Biased laws are now on the books and we need that changed.
