What is the Gong show?
@purdyday Chuck Barris was the creator and host of The Gong Show and he was truly a crazy man. But - he wrote a book/screen play about his life (if you can believe what he swore was true) and the movie is really pretty good - Its called "Confessions of a Dangerous Mind" - Sam Rockwell plays the starring role. Also Chuck Barris wrote a song called Palisades Park - was a huge hit back in early 60s - can't remember who sang the song though - but as I said Chuck Barris wrote it.
I'm pretty sure the movie "Confessions of A Dangerous Mind" will be easy to find...give it a try let us know if you liked the show.
But first go watch some episodes of The Gong Show - you'll see what I mean about Lame entertainment.
@iThink will do, sounds very interesting. One of the biggest hurdles I ran into, in my life transition from being raised in British culture until young adulthood to spending the better part of my actual adult life immersed as an American in everyway that counts, humor or humour, was/is the hardest one. Sardonic or Sarcastic wit, inherited from my roots, sometimes falls like a ton of bricks on some and doesn't necessarily translate well in written word alone. Thank God for the smiley emoji

It's known in the U.S. as a roast, but if you're looking for a point other than finding humor in absurdity, patience won't help, imo.
