That does not mean it isn't really bad news. The Stock Market will take a hit and the Democrats will use it to push for a new shut down. Rationality will be the first victim. Almost everyone will get it eventually social distancing and masks or not. Remember flattening the curve? That is the way of viruses as infectious as the common cold.
I'm not saying that Trump will not get really sick, it's too soon to tell. What I'm saying is either way Trump will once again be accused of being a science denier. The problem is that epidemiology is a statistical art as much as a science. The science is in virology which epidemiologists use to build the models. These distinctions are lost on the general population which is prone to panic.
Rationality would dictate we look to South Korea for our response to Covid 19 not Europe because the Koreans have the most experience with Sars. That means keeping the economy open while dealing with the pandemic. Allowing the pandemic to be politicised is foolish. That is however exactly what we can expect from corporate media.
It is likely that the efficacy of mask has more to do with viral load than preventing infection. As I said earlier preventing infection with something like the common cold is a fools errand. Flattening the curve is rationality. Trump nor the Democrats have shown much scientific reasoning concerning the virus and the medical community hasn't helped because they are justifiably worried about being overwhelmed and dying themselves. That doesn't mean that panic is justified. Like any war the war against the virus will have unnecessary deaths. To use a famous quote the only thing to fear is fear itself.
