@JacksonNought We have no idea how far back it goes. The Romans spent quite a time canceling cultures, as did the Greeks, The Babylonians, something canceled damned near every city-state around the Mediterranean and beyond c. 1200 B.C. The Christians were certainly not the first.
Well no, older religions would take that award. This is a meme that critiques absolutism by contrast. You could say vis the mail article that the women should forgive Degeneress as love the sinner hate the sin and she isn't promting sin in her work, or not redeam as she is unrepentent. Both operate with the christian frame of reference
Those examples are the same thing as cancel culture? Aren't they more of a response to cancel culture. Like it or not Christianity is a part of the western culture, although it is shrinking. Peeing on Christ is not a part of the culture. The response to the action is canceling but for cultural preservation not cultural canceling. Ask yourself what is culture.
Ellen Degeneres didn't lose her show because of cancel culture. She lost it because she treated her staff badly. She created a toxic work environment and I guess they had tolerated her enough.
Larry David and Ellen are both comedians. The left is busy canceling comedy altogether. They are part of the left so if they are desperate for work they can blame themselves.
I don't think the Larry David act was particularly funny although peeing on something can be funny. Ellen Degeneres probably needed the money but maybe shouldn't be depicting the promotion of Christmas, especially after her show was canceled and her image tainted. I can't run the ad so I don't know if it was funny at all.
These are two talents working hard to cancel themselves by one of them pissing on, and the other pretending to support, "culture".
Unfortunately for you, Jackson, Christianity will be around for awhile after you are gone. Religion will always be a part of the human experience whether it is Christianity, Islam or Buddhism or whatever is the question. you'll just have to be tolerant of the diversity and try being inclusive. You know, things the left asks everyone to be but can't stand themselves.
