@WayneHawthorne On the one hand, liberals degrade democracy in the interest of the corporate elite, resulting the system of and justified by the ideology of neoliberalism, and enabled by the professional managerial class. On the other hand, conservatives degrade democracy in the interest of large private business owners, resulting in the system of and justified by the ideology of feudalism, and enabled by the petit bourgeois. The only difference is that the latter is relatively more oppressive, leading to starker inequality--the former being relatively more inclusive. And of course, as capitalism progresses (regressively), the former becomes more like the latter by the day. I say a pox on all of both of their houses!

It's a choice between public goods in the hands of publicly traded companies, enriching the corporate elite, or public goods in the hands of individual plutocrats, enriching them and those in their patronage.
