Normally, I have no interest in engaging in race-based rhetoric, working under the theory that good people and assholes alike come in every color under the sun.

But I'm reading today that Daisy "Jupiter" Paulsen, the 14-year North Dakota girl that was choked, beaten, and stabbed 20+ times in an unprovoked attack, has died. Her alleged assailant, 23-year old Arthur Prince Kollie - who's already admitted to investigators that he was high on methamphetamines the day of the assault - was caught on several surveillance cameras both during the assault and during his attempt to evade police, but claims he has no memory of the assault.

Beyond the tragedy of a young life snuffed out needlessly by an asshole strung out on drugs, what really irritates me is that - and stop me if you've heard this one before - the suspect is a convicted felon, out on probation, who was just sentenced not even a month earlier on a new conviction for firearm discharge, firearm possession as a felon, and drug possession; but was sentenced to only 27 days in jail and was immediately released for time served. And that's the part I want to address.

In America 2021, we have long since abandoned the idea of personal responsibility. That USED to be a virtue, but now we call it "Whiteness" and clamor for it to be denounced and rejected. Thanks to progressive activism, police are now held up as the bad guys and violent criminals feted as social justice heroes. We have become SO DAMNED AFRAID of social unrest in connection to the arrest and punishment of black criminals, that I am convinced that this alleged assailant walked free because the North Dakota courts were terrified of what would happen if they kept him incarcerated.

Let's be real now: a convicted felon who was STILL ON PROBATIONARY RELEASE for assaulting a police officer in 2017, gets caught firing a firearm that he's not legally permitted to have AND has drugs on his person...merits TWENTY-SEVEN DAYS & TIME SERVED? What happened to, "if you violate your probation, back to prison you go?" Is that not how this is supposed to work? I think felony firearm possession, use, and drugs counts as a probation violation, don't you? And yet he was given a slap on the wrist and sent on his merry way.

And a 14-year old girl was brutally murdered because of this.

Again, I'm not going to get into, "black people are this; black people are that." I don't subscribe to that. Like I said earlier, every culture and race has its share of shitheads.

But I will say that we as a society have got to STOP BEING SO DAMNED AFRAID OF OFFENDING BLACK PEOPLE. Okay? There's no need to be a dick to anyone. No need to go out of your way to give anyone a hard time. Treat others the way you would like to be treated. But there's also ZERO need to walk around on eggshells and equate black criminals with civil rights legends because the criminal acted like a fucking asshole, resisted arrest, and did something really stupid that ultimately cost them their lives. Play stupid games; win stupid prizes.

If we're putting violent criminals back on the streets because we're afraid that BLM/Antifa will come to our town, then THE MOB HAS ALREADY WON. Enough.
