I’m afraid, you are right.
Canada was a free country? A nice country perhaps, but you guys were further along the path to socialism than the U.S for decades. If anything, what Canada is doing now should be a cautionary tale to citizens in the U.S of what's coming.
For example, not doing what you're told - even though it's not mandatory - resulting in an abrogation of your "privileges." Funny word, privileges; we used to talk about rights, but now we speak of privileges, as if rights are no longer something we recognize as inherent and inalienable.

I agree that Canada is further along the path to tyranny than the US. However, I don’t think our neighbours to the south should feel too secure. The American electoral system has been severely compromised. And, even before Creepy Joe “won” the election, the Constitution was under severe attack. The First Amendment is being rapidly erased with a corporate/government flanking maneuver. According to Mussolini, this is the definition of fascism. The Second Amendment is being attacked on all fronts. The Frankfurt School has successfully reprogrammed the education system. This will likely result in the next “educated” generation being majority Socialist if not outright Communist. And, a huge sector of the population is being manoeuvred into dependence on regular government handouts.
