The irredeemable America? Sigh. Long on cranky, short on originality.
For me Maher’s close last week was brilliant. It’s what I constantly talk and write about. Entitled US progressives live in the safest, freest, healthiest and most affluent sector of the planet, by accident of birth. Yet they constantly bitch about how awful everything is. They never shut up about how bad they have it. Get off the cross, Jimmy, we need the wood.
Maher is simply saying that context matters. Jimmy needs clicks. I can’t believe he’s stupid enough to miss the quality of life difference between America and the rest of the world: Afghanistan, the Philippines, Venezuela, or the failed states of Africa. Woke-leftists ought to roll out of bed every morning and kiss the ground in thanks for the providence that allowed them to be born in the USA.
You wanna debate the tired, woke-view of America:The Evil Empire? Different conversation. Maher was talking about what most of the rest of the planet looks like: slavery, child labour, starvation, walking a mile each morning for dirty water, and being dragged 15 miles to a hospital. That’s the reality for billions. That’s why tens of thousands line up at US Embassies and Consulates all over the world each week, begging to get into America.
Take a chill pill, Jimmy, and try to get the point next time.
