You’re right on track. People are all-too-willing to believe every at-a-glance accusation and/or insinuation that somebody posts. Actually taking the time to research and think for oneself is uncommon anymore. Younger people have a tendency to form their full opinion from a series of headlines and memes rather than gathering all the information on a subject and looking at it from more than one angle.

It’s not a condemnation of them just an observation. With the information overload on every subject they have to choose how much time and brain real estate to dedicate. Rather than go for depth they tend to go for breath.

Suggesting that people not automatically believe every meme or headline is a good place to start. It certainly isn’t censorship to ask people to think for themselves rather than just believing well crafted talking points aimed at influencing the simpleminded or the lazy. IMO.

@Weltansicht I agree with you whole heartedly. We can not forget the tragedies, but we must look at all the facts before we go pointing fingers. The cops did not stand around doing nothing and the over-memeing of this talking point is getting to me. People are so quick to judge and blame without looking at all the facts. We bash the left for being so quick to judge Kyle Rittenhouse or being overly forgiving to George Floyd because they are numb to the facts. I don't like seeing that from the non-lefties...we are typically more logical. So, when I see things like this getting pushed by conservatives and libertarians or anyone else, it kinda makes me sad. We can't let ourselves become numb to the facts and allow ourselves to repeat the talking points of the day. It worries me, I suppose. If the "side of reason" is just as quick to accept the talking points and memes, we have become more Orwellian than I realized.

@Billy_Kid The worry you have is fine & healthy, its survival programming in the genes. And it is cool to err on the side of caution IF the 'side of reason' is just as quick in your scenario....that's how mobs and vigilante justice happens.

But if you think I am pushing, no. But I do point out, often, what others are. Usually, like in this case, it is shameful & pitiful to exploit the tragedy that has happened to those people. But the breakdown in the system of literally decades of legislation must be brought to the light as in transparency.

I have seen victim's survivors in this case, being restrained from assistance attempts at rescue. Seen another that said the active shooter was outside for 15 minutes shooting, so why wasn't the doors locked then? When I was in school, the Principal would have; and I thought all the schools had a hall monitor as well, not to mention a security resource officer, or at least the janitor.

As I believe I said earlier, it is a demagoguery manipulation. The People are so quick to judge and blame without looking at all the facts. are the people exploiting the event and not letting a crisis go to waste without yet another brow-beating of a political agenda, to push yet more control upon us all.

I think your We can't let ourselves become numb to the facts and allow ourselves... comment is the best I have seen in a long long time. Reminds me of "If you vote for the lesser of two evils, you are still voting for evil."

@Weltansicht Absolutely. Not enough people are generally courteous, especially online. They're so quick to trigger and bully without indulging in an intelligent conversation with hopes of understanding one another. Thank you, as well. Conversations like these are much needed.

The same for me when I was in school. We had hall monitors as well as a school cop. Brandon Tatum did a video recently on 2 schools with very impressive structures for these situations. If our government was actually concerned about the safety of our children in schools, every school in the country would be given funding to implement their own security system, rather than everything they've wasted money on in the past 2 decades. There is no real, logical reason why this has become so common in our country.

I see it as all part of their plan in some way or another. If these things didn't happen, there could never be a push for gun control; never a reason to oppose the topic of gun control either. The political tension wouldn't be there for the sake of manipulating all sides and pinning the people against one another.
