@GeeMac Come on... everybody knows what they would look like. Start with background checks. To buy a gun, you would need a licence. People with an entry in the police record would not get the license, including those with psychiatric problems. And of course: ordinary citizens could only buy ordinary guns, pistols, nothing semi-automatic, nothing created for being used in war.
If in doubt, just look at other civilized nations how they handle this issue.

EDIT: One minute ago I read on FB about a 2-year old in Orlanda / Florida who shot his/her father because the gun was not stored safely. Accidents like these happen in Germany once in a decade (even less), in the US they happen every fucking day

@GeeMac Try this, stop treating deranged people like they are "Poor Babies", and lock them up and get them treatment before they do SH-T like this!!!!!!! That is how things use to get done!!!

@Matias66 none of those measures would have prevented Uvalde. The “ordinary guns, pistols” you approve of are responsible for a staggering 50% of fatalities. The combat style weapons are involved in 3%.

Part of the problem is that horrible school tragedies spark a week of sensational news coverage, while no one pays attention to the much larger issue of criminals and handgun violence everyday in cities like Chicago, St.Louis, Memphis, Detroit, or Cleveland. These don’t even make the news. Remember when Donald Trump broached this reality? He was denounced as a racist.

@Serg97 I agree. However, one of the issues driving a whole range of social problems is that the left has made it all but impossible to force the mentally Ill into treatment. (To be fair, this was largely implemented under Ronald Reagan.)

We are allowing people who are unable to make sound self-care decisions to refuse mental health treatment. This — not lack of funds — is responsible for a large part of the so-called “homeless” issue.

@GeeMac This issue goes far beyond GUNS, look at the LGBQ----- problem in this county!!! Now THEY want Drag Queens teaching in public schools, so the upcoming generation will be more accepting!!!!! Accepting of WHAT, metal illness???? Just asking!!!!!!

@Serg97 frankly, yes! The left clearly is demanding we all accept all mental illness — howling at the moon, open drug use, and defecating on the sidewalk — without judgment. The left created “homelessness” by enforcing a hands-off approach to mental illness and addiction.

I’ve stated many times before that drag queens, like pole dancers, have no place delivering content to children in schools and libraries.

You are exactly right. Woke Americans constantly shame owners of legal firearms while they lecture the rest of us to stop stigmatizing drug use. It’s a ridiculous double standard.
