FEMA refuses to give money to Florida for the hurricane.

San Francisco will be hit by an Earthquake and they will demand FEMA money.

In hurricane Katrina, FEMA failed. FEMA failed again today.

DeSantis declared that Florida will pay for repairs by itself.

With Dominik Hasek, the puck stops here.

With Harry Truman, the buck stops here.

Trump is the Midas President. Biden is the Lead President.

When Biden touches a buck, there is shrinkage.

Imagine if Trump had withheld FEMA funds.

Bureaucracies are machines for wasting money. But sometimes they amplify money.

The biggest bang for buck ever built by a bureaucracy was Los Alamos. Roosevelt threw bucks at Los Alamos and Los Alamos built bigly bang.

Build bang better.

FEMA is a branch of the Executive. Its failure is a failure of the Executive Branch.

Presidents have generally found it politically risky to do the surgery necessary on FEMA to clean it up.

We, the People have the ability to restore the original Constitution, and abolish all Federal bureaucracies not in the Constitution, which means every agency except the Department of Commerce and the Military.

@TimTuolomne

Yes, a failure of the executive branch. Pin the tail on the donkey.

Yes, we have too many bureaucracies. Too many lions on the safari. Time to thin the herd.

You raise a cool point as to which bureaucracies are defined in the Constitution and which are not.

The national military feels like a good thing to include in the set. Most everything else doesn't.

The Continental Congress created a national military and gave Washington command. It gave Washington money. Washington used the money to create bureaucracies and he won he war. After winning the war, he resigned his commission and he stopped asking the Continental Congress for money. He returned to his farm.

Back in the day,, American bureaucracies kicked ass. Today they lose.

Roosevelt threw money at Los Alamos and it yielded nuclear bombs.

Once upon a time in the Roman Republic, the Roman Senate appointed Cincinnatus dictator and gave him money. They did it because Rome was about to be conquered by illegal alien conquistadors. Cincinnatus used the power and money to win the war. Immediately after winning the war, he resigned the dictatorship and returned to his farm.

Washington = Cincinnatus

I propose a clause for a constitution: "Ex presidents must farm"

Spock: It's easier to destroy than to create

Except for bureaucracies.

What is a minimalist set of bureaucracies?

@jaymaron I agree with the Constitution: Commerce and the Military. Nothing else. The Constitution and the Tenth Amendment both provide for the States to do everything else.

Any time the Feds try to do something beyond the Constitution, it is always about power, and almost always about power for Democrats, because the Republican Party was chartered by Lincoln to defend the Constitution, so Republicans are opposed to violating its principles.

As a Florida resident and as an American, I believe it is right that each state should take care of themselves first. To do anything else is to admit that the state government and its chief executive is incompetent and thus becomes a vassal of the federal government and its chief executive.

As our system was designed, the individual is responsible to care for his/her own needs until his resources/capabilities are overwhelmed, then the family, etc… then the local government, then the state government, then the federal government. At each level, it is the responsibility of those at that level to plan for and have contingency plans that include partnerships at the same or similar levels (family members, churches/charitable organizations/insurance companies/sister city agreements/state partnerships, etc… ). If responsibly planned and executed at each level, the only time the federal government would be involved is in the case of a catastrophic, once in a lifetime event.

I understood this in the aftermath of Katrina and I implemented it during the aftermath of Michael. I had purchased sufficient insurance from a top quality insurer (USAA) decades before the Hurricane and I had established contingency plans and partnerships at the individual, family, community levels ahead of time. In the immediate aftermath of the Hurricane, I implemented the required plans, (from a safe location during the Hurricane and locally in the immediate aftermath). My son-in-law and I loaded up supplies and equipment in his 4WD truck and made our way back into Panama City traveling over back roads and cutting a path through downed trees with chainsaws where necessary. We made it to our home, where my daughter, her husband, his twin sister and all their kids had hunkered down during the storm with battery operated power tools in case they needed to cut their way out of a home that may trap them if it didn’t withstand the weather (it stood, while many surrounding it didn’t). We immediately began assessing the neighborhood needs and meeting the most pressing with the help of family members in my home. We established a information hub and distribution center for resources in our home and once we had that established, I delegated to my adult family members and some trustworthy people in the neighborhood some of the more pressing issues they could perform, while continuing on to other family members of the son-in-law who came with me (almost a dozen siblings and his parents lived here). After delivering the equipment and supplies, we returned to my house and continued to fortify our positions in begin the recovery efforts while my son-in-law with the truck returned to his wife and children and served as an offsite coordination link.

Our neighborhood did fine, with the exception of a of hyper-liberal member that didn’t want to do anything but complain about the slowness of the government response. We didn’t have any problems with looting as we quickly posted signs stating that this neighborhood was under the protection of many well trained gun owners and looters would do so at their own risk. Of course the state government wisely and quickly declared an immediate and temporary constitutional carry rule (no need for any permits and everybody was free to carry weapons openly or concealed) and announced it publicly.

We have taken years to fully recover from the devastation of the Cat 5 hurricane, but we didn’t need (or want for the most part) the federal government’s interference.

@Daveclark5

Cool story. Love the constitutional carry idea. Cool that a state governor can do this. It's like a wild west sheriff appointing deputies in a time of crisis.

Florida can virtue signal that it's capable of handing a hurricane by itself. Individual Floridians can handle a hurricane by themselves. Cue Linkin Park.

It's a given that San Francisco has not set aside money to handle an Earthquake. They expect that the Fed will bail them out. They are arrogant. As arrogant as gender studies degree holders that feel that they're entitled to the Fed paying their college debt.

In 1869, America completed the trans-continental railroad.

Today, California has modern technology and the Fed gave it billions to build a commuter rail link between LA and SF. It still doesn't exist.

SF spent 2 million dollars on a public toilet, and it didn't work.

When the earthquake hits SF, SF will beg for money and the Fed will give them money. They will waste the money.

@jaymaron kinda my point. The Demoncraps have brainwashed most Americans leading them to believe we are all incapable of being responsible adults and in need of a nanny (the state) to babysit and spoon-feed us. By doing this they turn us into their unwitting slaves.

As for virtue signaling, I don’t believe there is any great virtue in being a responsible adult who cares for oneself and others around us. However the opposite is a handicap similar to mental or emotional retardation; not evil in itself, but also not something to which people should aspire.

@Daveclark5

A reality show featuring leftists forced to survive in the wilderness would get great ratings.

Leftist schools are pass fail. The wilderness is live die. Swim sink.
