In clown world most of us wonder if anyone can still have rational discussions that are not biased by the cultural civil war. Turns out there are still a few people that seem able to actually produce interesting conversation that is not reduced to prepackaged "right" answers.
It's a long read but well worth your time.
In particular interest to me is his explanation of why laws are collective and take the form of artificial or abstract red lines. My words not his. You will find the explanation in the section on an AI constitution.

If someone claims to be progressive that usually means that they are enamored with social engineering. A tolerant engineer is something of an oxymoron. The whole point of being an engineer is to be intolerant of that which doesn''t meet specifications. The question is who created the specifications. Those that come from the physical science tend to be highly reliable those that come from the social sciences not so much.
Historically it was expect that someone who was well educated would be liberal. Unfortunately the term liberal has lost most of it's meaning as it has increasingly come to mean socialist, left leaning etc. Originally liberal mostly meant open minded and willing to consider different perspectives. As it became associated with socialism that became impossible. Socialism is by definition authoritarian because it implies centralized control and conformity. Either through social engineering or the force of law.
