Fake news. No real changes are being made to the electoral college by the court or anyone else. The electoral college will be in place no matter what. This is a very narrow issue about how much freedom the electors have.

I hope you are right.
The Supreme Court's ruling could solidify the legitimacy of the National Popular Vote Movement. If they rule that it is up to the states to determine what the electors can and cannot do then the states that have signed up to commit their electors to vote for the winner of the national popular vote have the Supreme Court's blessing. This will make it harder to contest this illegitimate work around of the electoral college. I don't see how the Supreme Court can rule for a national restriction on the state electors since each state has it's own rules. I know this will only happen if enough states sign on to the movement but it's still a possibility.
