The level of health care that needs to be provided is always an interesting topic.
I lived in Belgium some years where there were no limit on expensive treatments such chemo and radiotherapy for cancer etc and as such they had the best cancer treatment in the world by far.
However, it came at a price. This extreme level of care bankrupted their social security and other important issues was simply not taken care of and the tax burden on the young was excessive.
As the population ages, you get to a point that by keeping the old alive by all means possible, you were killing the young through depression and other preventable illnesses. which they cannot afford to protect themselves from.
The question remains, what is a fair level of healthcare and how do you find it fairly?
