I think the politicians, the news mongers, the pundits, the "researchers" and health institutions all have MUCH to gain by frightening the living hell out of as many people as they can. What do they have to gain by proverbially shouting FIRE! in the crowded theater you might ask.
The politicians will use the fear mongering like a cudgel against their political rivals. The news mongers will gain greater fame and generate more revenues and the "health" institutions will frighten the people into eagerly granting them billions of dollars more than they otherwise would be given (by the politicians) annually.
There is MUCH to be gained by fomenting panic in the great population and these things are beginning to work their black magic...people are hoarding toilet paper and disinfectant cleansers; they are probably hoarding food as well. This is driving us to the very precipice of revolts and riots - a complete societal breakdown is now more likely to happen in the near future than it might have been 3 months ago.
Who loses and who wins in such a scenario. WE THE PEOPLE lose - big time. The already powerful politicians and their wealthy benefactors along with their friends in the media win - big time.
Here in USA the "official" reports are that fewer the 1,400 cases of infection are known.
Also they aren't telling you that the illness will be fatal to people with co-morbid conditions such as being elderly, cardio pulmonary illnesses, etc.
If you are a reasonably healthy person beneath age 60 you might well catch the illness but it isn't going to kill you.
The fuse has been lit - it's probably too late to stave off a panic. Damn the politicians! damn them all.
