I don't know if you're an atheist or not but but if you take deity out of the picture then you are by default saying that the Universe and everything in it came into being from nothing...a happy accident it seems. THAT is what she is saying in the video. Also she is clearly in disagreement with the theory (?) that homo sapiens evolved from some kind of creature in the so called primordial soup. I'm on her side with that one. I for one do not deny the obvious reality that living things evolve over time but I will never accept the idea or theory that human beings are somehow sprang randomly into existence.

@iThink Humans did not spring randomly into existence. No evolutionary biologist worth their salt will claim that. Mutations are random, the process of natural selection is not.

Also I am an atheist and I don't believe that the universe sprang into existence from nothing. I simply lack belief that a sky wizard made the universe.

Now that's a new one "Wizard in the Sky" - funny! never heard it before. First of all my belief is that everyone and anyone is free to believe what they will.
Surely the Universe did not spring into existence spontaneously from nothingness. Our logical sense although very limited tells us that nothing comes from nothing. Zero plus zero is zero. So call it "wizard in thy sky, Yahweh, The Great Creator, The Source of the Universe, Allah...whatever you like but it makes no difference. He, it, they - whatever - exists beyond human capacity for comprehension. Worship it or Him, Indifference toward it or Him...again I say it matters not - at least not to anyone except ones self. Good luck with whatever you choose to believe and do with your own life.

@iThink Of course everyone is free to believe what they will, although for many people around the world there are negative consequences to expressing disbelief. I am fortunate enough to live in a time and a place where I can get away with open lack of religious belief.

Really the extent of our knowledge extends back to the instant after the big bang. Evidence or solid reasoning that "god did it" is pending. God, to me, appears to be a "first cause" that we created in our own image and exempted from all the rules of logic that we apply to everything else.

In the absence of a "checkmate atheist" statement I will take that statement at face value. "Theory" is the highest level of certainty in modern science. A recognition that we are apes in shoes and we can be wrong about shit. Most of the science that keeps a jet airliner in the air is mere theory as well.

I follow her on You tube - she has some fun shooting videos and she articulates the kind of sociopolitical stuff I love. Anyhow, I saw her first so if I could find a way to get young again and unmarried and have her unmarried you would be 2nd in line after me! Ha!
