Oh interesting! I’ll look into that. Though not sure it’ll help at this stage of study, as the particular qualification I’m doing right now though is a sort of bridging graduate diploma which is modifying my undergraduate degree. They are pretty specific to Australia and New Zealand I believe and only at very few universities even then. Even the UK (where I’m based) don’t recognize it until I do masters level I believe (which hopefully I can do in the uk once I’ve been here long enough). Haha yes I’m trying to open my classmates up to these different ideas but it’s a distance course and the psych message boards tend to be full of (as JBP says) neurotic students. So I take JBP’s advice and mostly stay away in case they drown me with them

I’m curious to understand why you think I could only be a case manager or social worker? Perhaps the studies are different in your country. Also I’m ex SJW - reformed! Haha

It is true that you kind of have to feel called to do that kind of work and it is hard not to get political in the face of a shrinking public sector and social insurance programs.

@WilyRickWiles Yeah. It’s probably a little job dependent though. I imagine if I stuck more to research and writing for example it would be more grounded in science for example. Though there is probably politics in most jobs.

@athenaworrier you could chase a nurse practitioner or physicians assistant or even doctorate, but your bookworming can easily distort your view. my experience is these types of agents in healthcare. lost in imagined theories from school, hashtagging selected words and manipulative editing reporting, from arrogance and horse blinders.

talking about it. meditating on it, fascinating on it (mental healing approaches) does nothing without proven possitive results.
you could probably groundlevel some healing through outreach orginizations in your spectrum of giving.

the second half of your degree could focus on mentorship, personal management, action planning, personal growth achievement. team building and leadership rolls.

maybe focus on logistics management with a minor. AI will need people to be able to apply logic and fallacy programming into complex computations, reasoning out through the sifters

skys the limit, good luck. psych is broken with dilliberately fouled reporting of studies and governed by the dictates of the drug index sitting on your doctors table recommended as written by Big Pharma

Yes I think I’ll attempt that I wondered if I still needed time to settle into my new ideas first though. It’s this odd thing when you give up strong schools of thought and strong ideologies - to really change ones brain really needs time to break apart and reformulate itself in the expanded configuration. Judging by the past it takes my brain about 6mths-1yr to process and make the bulk of the changes needed and then there are always a few lingering things that need tweaking when faced with certain situations. (I think I’ve had about 4 of these in my lifetime now). But yes, hopefully I’ve done enough processing now that I can write convincing essays from this new perspective! Thanks.

Thanks Facci. I think it’s because I used to be and think like that that it’s tricky going back there after learning what I now know. Also as I’m pretty new to these perspectives I almost need time for them to be full formed before I can argue for a different perspective. Thanks for the encouragement!

@athenaworrier well, the heterodox nature of the IDW is far from homogeneous. IDW is a large tent with infinite possibilities with a premium on honesty.
