I know there are a number of things the UK has in common with the US. But there's really no way someone from any other country can understand what is happening in the US right now. Each country is different and driven by different forces.

The US Democrats have been using absolutely everything to stop Trump for the last 3+ years. Nothing has worked. Each time something fails, another something comes up and is politicized and weaponized against Trump and his supporters and the Republican party.

This isn't new with Trump. It has been the tactic of the Democrats for Decades. They are the big government party. They must be in power! The ends justify the means with them. There is no length too far. They follow Saul Alinski's Rules for Radicals, especially Obama's friend (and Chicago Mayor) Rahm Emmanuel's paraphrase "Never let a crisis go to waste." see: [facebook.com]

This isn't rocket science and doesn't take great intellect - though 21 years in USAF Intelligence did give me a few skills/abilities when analyzing world events. Anyone with objectivity and some knowledge of recent history can see the transparent motives of those in Washington D.C.

But staying objective is the problem. There in the UK, I doubt you watch/hear/follow anything other than the main stream media (MSM). Here, the MSM is the mouthpiece of the Democrat party. Either that, or the Democrat party is the muscle of the MSM. They absolutely work together to influence and control the masses/citizens.

They are pushing socialism (which started many decades ago but was ramped up under Obama) because making the people dependent on the government gives the government (Democrats themselves) total power. And that is their goal. "Power tends to corrupt. And absolute power corrupts absolutely."

Fortunately America now has other conservative/objective media outlets such as talk radio, social media, FOX news, etc. These are actually becoming stronger and more popular all the time, with new personalities making it their mission to find and spread the truth rather than the politically correct BS we're fed by Dems and MSM.

This is why I asked if you're Pro-BRexit. If you tell me you are, I know you're a person who desires freedom from government over-regulation - taxation without representation. In that case, I'd assume you're a rational person but you are just unaware of some of the details associated with the Coronavirus as well as US politics.

But if you're a Pro-EU globalist, then you're probably convinced by the left that the government has your best interests in mind and needs complete power to accomplish their socialist utopian agenda which has NEVER worked in the history of mankind and NEVER will. In that case, I know you're never going to listen to non-politically correct reason, logic, or truth. Therefore, I may as well not waste my time & energy.

@Clarken I"m Irish, living in Scotland, I have family in England, Ireland, Scotland, and Germany as well as the USA, I am certainly not pro-Brexit or pro-EU, but I am pro European and as you might understand wary of British nationalist jingoism and British Imperial post colonial fantasies.

Thank you. That explains something, at least. I'm of Irish, Scottish descent myself - and proud of it.

And I'm obviously very cynical about government & politicians. That's why I believe the smaller the government, the better. But the American Democrats would have the government run everything. The majority of Americans are very happy to have a non-politician businessman America-First Trump (who has more to lose than he has to gain as President) running things now. Things are picking up economically and in just about every other way over here.

Of course, if your family in America are Democrats or never-Trumpers, they won't admit that. But try to be objective and wait for the November elections. If you see a landslide win for Trump, that will tell you that the majority of Americans are excited for what he's doing and want nothing to do with the socialism and loss of rights promised by the Democrats.

Also watch 5 or 6 months down the road and see if this Coronavirus amounts to anything near America's 2018 no-name flu stats of 49 million cases with 80,000 deaths. Yes those numbers are right and they were in America alone. And it was never called a "Pandemic". And it never shut down schools or markets. That's right, with only 1323 confirmed coronavirus cases and 38 deaths in America, they're calling this a "Pandemic" and shuttering schools and many other things here in Ohio (5 confirmed cases, 0 deaths, 15 under observation). Globally, there are less than 130,000 confirmed cases with less than 4800 deaths so far. That doesn't begin to compare to America's no-name flu numbers I mentioned above.

Like I said, things are not what the MSM want us to believe. So always question what they say. They and their Democrat/liberal cronies have been wrong nearly every time. If they're for it, I'm against it. They call good evil and evil good. They are extremely predictable. And I like my odds betting against them every time!

@Clarken Yeah wait and see. Incidentally some of my American relatives are avidly pro-Trump and others totally against him, exactly as you might expect. Some live in New York, others live in California. Its just how it is. Trumps family comes from the Western Isles as does my wife and I've met some of his cousins, nothing he says or does surprises me.

I certainly didn't vote for him in the primaries. But when it came down to the general election between him & Hillary, there was no contest. I was and am fully on board. Being a military vet, I understand the crass talk & such - though I don't use it myself. I actually love the tweets because I know he's doing it just to Trigger the snowflakes as well as to get the truth out that the MSM won't tell. And polls show people leaving the Dems in droves to support him. Up to 40% of those who attend his massive rallies are Dems and Independents. He got only 8% of the black vote in 2016 and polls are now showing he has over 30% favorability there. No one else can fill a stadium once and he can do it every time, every where he goes. Enthusiasm is thru the roof. That's why the Dems and media are so desperate to find something to pin on him and slow the train down. They were hoping the impeachment would hurt him and it only hurt themselves while his poll numbers went up. They figure if the economy is down, it will hurt him. Watch, it will backfire and his numbers will climb.

NY & CA are the worst places in our country with the most left wing politicians and policies and highest taxes and such. By the way, I was deployed to RAF Alconbury & RAF Molesworth in 1999-2000. I brought my wife and kids over for two weeks and we did some sightseeing. Not only did we see London & Cambridge, but we also went to Glasgow, Sterling, and Edinburgh. Enjoyed it very much. But I'm glad I live in America! Lots that still needs improved. But with 4 more years of Trump and probably 8 years after that of Pence, we're on the way to Making America Great Again!

@Clarken I love America but I wouldn't bother talking politics with my cousins, it would just be too painful and ultimately pointless.

Unfortunately, just about everything here is political (and spiritual). So that would leave very little to discuss. Even sports and weather are now political.
