One of the things I have enjoyed with the internet is being able to meet folks all around the country and some folks in other countries I would have never had the pleasure of meeting otherwise. Another aspect that is good is we are not dependent entirely on the news, and the government to have an idea of what is going on in the world.
This has numerous experiences that just do not jive with the horror stories we are being told by the media. Nor is what is being seen first hand anything to justify the extremes our governments are going to in "protecting" us. I read a story about Trump's justice department demanding the power to detain anyone the government feels is not cooperating with the efforts to fight the virus, basically treating them like they have done alleged terrorists with indefinite detention, no right to counsel, and Lord only knows what kind of punishment if they have some mockery of a trial and find the person guilty.
There is far more intent behind this government mandates than simply keeping the public safe. Rwepublicans are cheering the advance of socialism under the golden boy, and the democrats are staying ominously quiet about things. Of course we will never hear anything else about Epstein and the people who went to his island, or the crimes they committed. No more talk about draining the swamp, this administration is suddenly neck deep in the swamp wanting more sludge added to the mess while demanding we suspend the Constitution for as long as the government feels is necessary.

In the USA we have the Constitution! Nowhere in it are the words "EXCEPT WHEN----"!!
Our Government, has to (at least in theory) abide by the Constitution, no matter what!!!
We (USA citizens) can hope that is STILL true!!! Lately, I am starting to question even that!!!
Dealing with a crisis is not the equivalent of going to war. However the feds have used that kind of language for decades now, the war on poverty, the war on drugs, the war on terror, and so on, to get the citizens in this mindset that when they call something a war it automatically gives them tyrannical powers, and authority to side step the Constitution.
Who exactly should Congress declare war against? A virus? China? Nature? God perhaps?
Even when in actual wars, and even when engaged in police actions, and hostile situations (we have not been in a legally declared war since WWII) our various levels of government never tried exerting the tyrannical powers they are doing now on. But the people in this country have been so dumbed down in our education, and already made so dependent on government they are begging for tyranny and calling anyone who speaks out against such actions as threats to everyone's lives no matter how ridiculous such claims are.
Are you honestly willing to give up all of what liberty you have left believing the government can actually save you from a threat they most likely had a hand in creating to begin with?
@KCSantiago for the good of the whole, yes, I'm willing to give up some rights! As should we all. As long as we don't have some tyrants like a Maduro or the Iranian mullahs in charge of our lives.
@angelo If you take a look at history governments that take away rights, especially when the people hand them over on a silver platter, they do not tend to give them back without a large body count. Hope you're ready for that fight when the time comes since all y'all so willingly giving your rights up are forcing the rest of us into that fight.
@KCSantiago The biggest difference being we live in a democracy. The tyrants who took away human rights in the past as well as in very recent times have grabbed power by whichever method and do not intend to relinquish it.
