However, the further people have to go to get to the “ends” of the wall, the more obvious they become and dragging around 30+ feet of ladder isn’t very discrete either. Building Wall in such a manner that the people trying to get through can’t simply disappear into the terrain once they manage to is also very important. Well, while I think its foolishness, I think there’s something to be said for a rule like that. Not safety ... no ... but this stands out; “is her intention to amend the bill to merely mandate minimum staffing levels at gas stations.” New Jersey has LOTS of young (and not so young) people employed at “pumping gas” AND also has one of tge lowest gas prices out there ... Heck, as a kid I had several jobs pumping gas or diesel. It paid minimum wage but ... so what? The jobs were easy and available. AND ... I learned how to earn tips by providing “service” (check your oil, ma-am? Let me get your windshield ...) What I find that’s weird is that “Service Stations” became “Gas Stations” where, if you’re lucky, you can find a squeegee with fluid on it to clean your own windshield ... or maybe a quart of oil or a gallon of windshield washer fluid ... even in New Jersey where the “attendants” simply stuff the nozzle in the tank and collect whatever form of payment.

This is a more complex problem than can be solved with “feelings” or useless meme about “Losing Humanity”. The first part of it is what these people are demanding. “Rent Control” which is something all politicians though mostly the Democrats and Left are willing to promote ... willing to sign into law ... first, because it sounds so “good” ... so “for the little guy”. Second, because it costs them nothing to do it. However, the consequences of this are long term, obvious and hard to escape. John Q. has money to invest. Like everyone who wants to make an investment, he wants (actually needs) to make a solid, healthy return. As a builder, his preference is to build. As a “human” he prefers to build homes ... housing ... rental units. The logical place for this type of thing is where the market is (potential customers). However, when he looks at the taxes, the regulations, the annual costs (both actual and projected) ... this is a huge number that goes after all the costs to actually build. Then there is the projected wear and tear over time. (Hint; the lower the “rent” is, the less the tenants care for the property ... the more they damage it through negligence or even willfully). The “return” gets slimmer and slimmer and then, there’s “Rent Control” which acts in a manner that pretends that all costs are “fixed”. There are thousands of “costs” involved over time. Handymen, Lawyers, Groundskeepers, Building Supers, Janitors, Trash, Water, Electric, Waste, Building Repairs ... and all the materials involved ... plus Taxes, Tenants who Chronically Pay Late and ... the list is endless ... that 1.5% annual “rent adjustment” simply doesn’t keep up. (Many owners cut back on “services” to compensate but then people call them “slumlords” AND they treat the property even worse) “Low Income Housing” ... “Affordable Housing” are essentially losing propositions from the day the first shovel goes into the ground UNLESS its built in an area of generally easy rules and regulations which is NEVER where the customers are because They Themselves are the ones who bring the “Rules and Regulations” with them. We also had no idea what we’d do with it if we “won” ... I mean, who were we going to hand it over to? They barely had a government to speak of. We got pulled into it because we “owed” it to the French who had ruled it as a colony but had bailed out. We were stuck with the concept that we were fighting “Communist Aggression” ... and they were the “Home Team”. There was nothing to “win” except possibly another stalemate like Korea. Its good to hear from someone who has good reason to know. She’s not a “specialist” or government advisor but she’s aware ... Much of what she says I know to be true because it tallies with several sources of information i have gathered over decades. Though I think its used too often, I would say that the Iranians are as much a Victim of Their Government and its Policies as “Actors” on the stage.

Well, this is strange ... “Facts don’t care about feelings...” I’ve been using this phrase since sometime in the 70s. I’m sure I didn’t coin the phrase, I’m sure I read it somewhere among the hundreds of books I’d read up to then ... maybe in a Reference Section at a Library somewhere. “Post Truth” might be some sort of “new” concept but this guy claims to be the “Leading Authority” on it because he just completed his “Masters” on it ... ? ... Where DO these people come from? 7500 years of assorted Human Philosophies and Thought Processes and people suddenly believe they’ve come up with “New”, never before considered ideas in thought? An awful lot of hubris there I think.

I don’t know about the U.K. but, it seems to me that in the USA, there is a strong undercurrent of racism in certain Black communities. Its racism in general though that rarely gets mentioned. You have Farrakhan, Sharpeton ... to name a couple ... who loudly and long rant on about people who aren’t Black ... including Jews ... You have the fact that the Prisons/Jails have a heavy and aggressive presence of Islam being taught to primarily Black prisoners ... which just happens to be anti-Semitic ... actually anti anything not Islamic (according to the Qu’ran if you aren’t “Arabic” you can’t “be” a Muslim ... you can only submit) In a way, there is a perverted bit of sense for Blacks (a minority with an obvious “difference” ) to focus on Jews (a minority who make themselves obviously “different” ). When a “bully” decides to pick on somebody, he usually looks for someone who is somewhat not “main stream” ... someone who is somewhat ostracized ... bullies pick “these types” because usually, no one runs to the rescue.

That account indicates a failed attempt. I would expect the level of watchful readiness to be elevated enough to stop most of this. The only really successful attacks is when they seemingly “come out of the blue” as a surprise. I think this is the first time we surprised them first and so we are readied for their retaliation. There probably won’t be any successful “surprises” until we relax our guard.

Hunh ... how to answer that? Well, I don’t use Twitter or anything similar but that 5 minute rule predates computers in video-type material. This is applicable for some 80% or more of people. Somewhere in one of my advertising reference books from the late 50s or 60s that’s a “statistic” given. Notice that commercial breaks rarely last more than 5 minutes. Actually most popular songs max out at 5 minutes for a long one. In printed media ... and in web design ... the time is shorter. That’s assuming the target audience isn’t somehow “invested” to begin with.

The biggest problem as I see it is that neither Hong Kong or Taiwan ever actually denied they were “part” of China. They never completely declared their independence. In Taiwan’s situation, I think it was because Chaing Kai Scheck (sp.) always thought that the Chinese people would regain their sanity, dump Mao and his Moro ... errr Minions, and all of China would find a common ground. Technically there’s never been any real reason that Formosa (Taiwan) should recognize a regime/government that hasn’t existed any longer than they themselves have Hong Kong is another, and very odd story. Basically a commercial British holdover from the Opium Wars (Euro & American Drug Cartels selling and trading Opium to Chinese People in contradiction to Chinese Law). I don’t recall how England kept its hold after WWII since they got their butts handed to them by the Japanese but ... the British recognized that China was the rightful owner/government the whole time ... even to signing over Hong Kong to China in 97’ ... although, they Contractually insisted the Hong Kongers were to get an unmolested “breathing period” of 50 yrs (Did ANYONE Honestly believe that China was going to wait?) I think I would tend to want to force China to keep their hands off ... The only problem I have, is I’m not sure whether this would be for humanitarian or strategic reasons ...

I challenge anyone to tell me that the pictures shown at this link are not amazing representations ...

No. Embassies are always in “harm’s way”. The less less civilized an area is, the more dangerous is the ground on which the Embassy stands ... the more hazardous the duty there is. They are political in nature. After all that’s their function ... that’s their weakness. Their strength or weakness depends on the Government that they represent. Not only was Benghazi representing a weak and impotent government that was actively seeking appeasement but a Commander In Chief who was busily and actively abasing himself in his need to show his submission to Islam without being too obvious to “His People” (the US Citizenry) at home. Clinton, on the other hand, had too many side deals going on ... weapons to Iran, cash to Qatar, several other things that could not stand the light of day ... Benghazi and it’s defenders were left to die because they had become pawns of a feckless “Commander” and a worthless, greedy, scheming Department Head. Every time we’ve “lost” an Embassy ... there’s been a weak and cringing government and “Commander” ... Ford / Saigon (though Ford basically had it dumped in his lap), Carter / Teheran, Obama / Benghazi. It is unfortunate in many ways that Our Service Personnel are subject to the Orders of Our Elected Officials and that, We the People so often make such disastrously stupid choices. Every person who voted for Carter ... for Obama ... is responsible for those outcomes.

It’s that “Pavlovian Reflex” Experience. By acting up and acting out, the Middle East, specifically Iraq and Iran, were able to “call the tune” and make US Politicians “dance” to it. Obama simply went way beyond that and happily groveled at their feet in his desire to prove his “Submission”. Iraq and Iran was used to being able to Jerk US Politicians to their knees by threatening to cut off the Petroleum Flow (an industry the USA Created for them) but the USA through Technology (and despite Obama’s and the Left’s best efforts to prevent it) found a way to break that stranglehold ... to make that threat worthless. USA has become the World’s #1 Producer of Petroleum and OPEC has become a bit player in the market. (WHOOPS! That bone has grown Old and Moldy and Meatless). Then came Trump and the Pavlovian Reflex died an Instant Death ... they try to wave that bone and He looks at them and yawns ... laughs (I am willing to bet he would have even IF they still had that bone). We don’t need them any more. More specifically WE don’t need commentary or the though processes of Our Sniveling Anti-American President OR His Toady “advisors” EITHER. Ben Rhodes is one such TOAD.

Well, it’s not “New” ... anymore and it’s not “Surprising” anymore. It’s a version of the Left’s Term “The New Normal” ... which is actually abnormal in all it’s facets. The “Leader” of the disruption and walk out should be removed from the premises and banned permanently ... especially/specifically if she is a “student”. The “Administrator” should be subject to discipline if not actually removed from their position ... This should not be tolerated by the Students, Parents and Government who pays for this. In essence, the people who are paying for this school, PAID to see this speaker ... the disrupters have gypped those who wanted to hear the talk out of their money and time.

NYT ... I was once a subscriber ... long ago ... and then the paper fell to crap. It finally got to the point that the only reason I kept the subscription was for the “Science” section which I realized was crazy because I could get the issue at the corner newsstand. They are whining (both the NYT and its writers) because they became totally biased years ago ... and even more so now ... but NOBODY in the Public Eye DARED to Insult Them to their FACES. Tough. They stopped doing their job. They stopped providing what people actually were paying for. Financially they are in trouble. AND it’s Their Own Damn Fault!!! I rarely cheer on the demise of a company and the loss of work of its employees but ... I watch and wait the final ending of the New York Times and will cheer it’s closing and ... I have absolutely no sympathy for the “contributors” who have allowed themselves to become useless, lying, yellow journalist, soc-commie scum. There are some decent suggestions below. Having written advertising copy for several years, the two changes you suggest are too “wordy” and not eye/attention grabbing. There’s also something wrong with starting it with “do you value” ... maybe “if you enjoy” or “appreciate” ... Seeking Active Thinkers to Participate in a Thought Provoking Forum. (Insert Description Here ... after the “tag line” you can put lots of stuff but the “tag line” needs to be the “hook” )

I don’t see where this article really refers to any of that but ... I expect to see the Bidens take a substantial hit sooner or later I’m simply not sure how much later. Personally I’d like to see some heads roll ... seriously roll ... So far we’ve got a guy in the FBI who tampered with evidence and mucked about with e-mails “covering up” ... what’d he get? 7 days and a $500 fine ... that’s not even like a booby prize.
