I don't think Tim is completely lying but he's also sugar coating things a bit. Because it was abrupt, something happened. I know Adam has been dealing with a lot from friends and family since deciding to vote for Trump; however he's still going to be doing his own thing with Adamcast IRL.
I think he wants more of a voice. Tim is smart enough not to try and fire him or anything. I think they are still friends but it's difficult to have tough conversations on a daily basis and work for your friend-boss.
