I'm extremely skeptical of philosophy and the social sciences. That said they are both necessary because you can't do without logic or statistics.

As to the amount of time I spent, how many pages can you read per minute? For most people it's somewhere around 1 to 2. In ten minutes you can read 10 pages. Plus I have been involved in forums for 26 years so I have a decent understanding of internet culture.

You should stop worrying about offending me. The only thing that offends me is censorship. I say what I think uncensored for the most part. I'm not trying to influence anyone or make friends. I'm old fashion enough to believe that to be objective you have to suppress emotions. That doesn't mean you shouldn't pursue hunches or "gut feelings". It just means they have to be cultivated.

@wolfhnd I have a thing about cultural generalisation; making a general statement about a certain group of people. It never feels right to me.

One of the reason I'm at this place is because I was sick and tired of the SAME DAMNED arguments that every other forum I attended had descended to. As far as I'm capable, here at least offers (present moment excepted, perhaps) a variety of topics besides just right/left politics.

Good call. As the name suggests, it is a website for atheists, agnostics and sceptics. It's interesting that they are also often leftists... well that's the impression I get anyway.
