@Krunoslav You remind me of what the early church father Tertullian (155-240 AD) said in the face of much persecution of Christians: "The blood of the martyrs is the seed of the Church."
@KeithThroop Indeed. Correct me if I'm wrong but when the Romans prosecuted the early Christians and used them in the coliseum to be fed to the lions as entertainment, some of the Christians refused to denounce their faith. Apparently this was such a powerful gesture to some non Christians watching it that they must have though to themselves.... if the God of the Christians is so powerful that they would not fear death even such as this.... than I better worship the same God myself.
Long story short, I heard that the more brutal the prosecution it was, the more martyrs they created and in the long run worked against the Roman empire, which eventually became Christian itself.
@Krunoslav Yes, I think that accurately assesses their impact, but it also made a huge difference when Constantine and his other converted to Christianity, and he then made it the official religion of the Empire. That decision was both a bane and a blessing to the Church.
@KeithThroop Yes. Some argue that Christianity was spreading in a way that it would have taken over Roman empire even if Constantine did not became Christian, it would just take longer. In some ways its like Woke religion taking over western countries at astonishing fast pace, but unlike Christianity it is so self destructive and divisive, I do not see it lasting nearly as long as Christianity. After all it is parasitic religion that only knows how to live of the host and destroys everything, it does not know how to build anything of value. One cannot say the same for Christianity. And after two millennia it has proven itself to be more constructive than destructive. Woke religion and similar statist type religions like communism by comparison is incredibly self destructive and only materialistic with no moral code.
