For all the talk of how it’s a conspiracy theory to think the government is out to get us, isn’t it just as bad to think the government isn’t. i think it’s a more dangerous assertion to claim they would n’t donthst and to think they are is absurd.

There is no question that the government, or rather the representatives of the government, do not have our best interests at heart. Power corrupts, and they rig the system against us. The Founding Fathers intended for public service to be an inconvenience - where someone would put their life on pause to serve the greater good for a period of time, much like current day jury duty. It was never intended for public service to be a career. It was also never intended for public service to be reserved for the wealthy, despite the overwhelming majority of congress and presidents already being multi-millionaires. Of course they legislate to enwealthen themselves and keep the common person poor and reliant on them.
The bigger conspiracy is how the Trump supporters actually believe he gives a rat's ass about them and was some sort of savior and wasn't just lining his pockets the whole time.

yeah i think that last part is just as bad and is no different than any democrat position. i mean the best response i get from them in terms of the whole, “how can you trust the government” piece is basically that they haven’t killed me or locked me up yet, plus they are making sure i can put food on my table so they can't be that bad.
and even when you can point to examples where they are starting to do it, at least its still better than (insert example country here).
i don't love the “its nit as bad as...” argument. im nit a huge fan when its used in regards to racism as it discounts what’s going on here. we should still be trying to fix things that are wrong even if they arent as bad as somewhere else. that being said at the very least where i do see it as a valid argument is that at least in terms of racism we are clearly headed away from the worst of it, with everything we are headed towards the worst if it. its herd to realize it because we are so early but when do you speak up? if you look at the countries that are worse eventually it gets to a point where yiu can’t
I never understood why people believe that the government is altruistic and only out to benefit it's citizens, or at the very least not do anything nefarious against it's own citizens. History has taught us otherwise. Power seeks power. Things don't change, they just update and evolve with the times.
