The first tweet was supposed to trigger those people who jump to conclusions, and boy did they ever. Hook, line, and sinker.
Then the second tweet comes along, explains BK's cause and draws attention for it. In any other decade it would've been a masterstroke of marketing and the people who fell for it would've been mature enough to say, "Okay, you got me."
But not this decade. And why is that? Because the outrage mob can never admit to being wrong. The outrage mob is about how things make them feel, not about whether something is clever or reasonable or even a position they disagree with but can respect. It's all about the OUTRAGE.
And BK outraged them, so now - instead of slinking away - they double-down in their outrage, declaring BK must pay the price for its crime of invading their safe space with a message that's only offensive if the reader chooses to interpret it that way. You with me? So BK must now be punished by the outrage mob because the outrage mob chose the worst possible interpretation and then decided to be outraged over it.
And I make that point very clear because this is what the outrage mob does. Every time. And we continue to pay attention to them, why?
