And yet the reason why some demographics do well and others do not has everything to do with systemic racism and nothing the obvious fact that children needs fathers... or so we are told all the time

I bet that there are chemical imbalances that could be detected in both single mothers and their children. The only studies I'm familiar with are menstrual syncing. The evidence for that was pretty weak but I suspect that it is more complicated than people doing studies assume. First of all it has to be women sharing the same living space not just the same dorm rooms. [healthline.com]
In any case would be interesting to see what could be found.

Only if it's existence impacts the subject under discussion. The fact that something exists isn't proof of a casual relationship.

The problem is that the relationship in the OP isn't limited to any particular group. That would lead a reasonable person to believe that the fundamental cause is other than what you implied. It other words the systemic part is largely irrelevant. I recommend you read "Coming Apart: The State of White America, 1960-2010" by that horrible pseudo scientific racist Charles Murray of "Bell Curve" fame.

The simple matter is that after the fall of apartheid (systemic racism), the fraction of black children living without their fathers INCREASED.
The problem is worse now than ever before after 27 years of freedom and democracy.

I'm sure they'll trash the study or the results (or the authors) because it doesn't fit the narrative of everything being either sexist or racist. It's a sad state of the world when you have to prove with studies that which is logical.
